  3. I thought this photo was very interesting when i first saw it. I almost get a sense that the man in this photo is walking to heaven. I also really love how the light is shining through the clouds and really gives this picture a magnificent feeling.

Light Observation

  1. Thursday 4:30pm in my dorm room.
  2. My roommate and I were sitting around relaxing in our room and our suite mate told us it was raining heavily outside. When I pulled the shades to look outside a flash of lightning zipped across the sky.
  3. The first thing I saw as I pulled the shades of the dirty window in my dorm room was a bright quick beam of bluish white light. at first it startled me because I had just pulled the old dusty shades up to the top of the window to see the rain as it flashed across the gray and drab background of the sky.

Lighting Observation

  1. 4/6/17, 6:00 pm, Spiegel Theatre
  2. The stage lights in the Spiegel were off, and only a few of the house lights were on. You could see the lighting through the backdoor of the Spiegel.
  3. The clouds started to get darker, eventually leading to a sudden downpour. I ran into the Spiegel to escape the weather just as another roar of thunder commenced. I walked into a mostly dark space. The onstage lights had been turned off, but there were still some house lights on. It seemed as though the two back rows of the theatre were the only area where light was seen. As I walked down the aisle to get to the front row, I could see a burst of light coming from the side entrance. The lightning could be seen through the window of the side door, illuminating its surroundings. This gave me chills up my spine and almost immediately transformed the space into something more eerie than it previously was.

Photo Observation #9

  1. Image came from Pinterest https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/31/2e/e4/312ee470adbbe8014f369e1fc7714349.jpg
  1. Surreal
  1. This lighting is surreal because it washes the woman in the unnatural colors of cyan and red. The majority of her hair and body is lit up red, making her look suspicious, sexy, and dangerous. The cyan light adds a mysterious, isolating feeling and looks like a cold shiver all the way up the side of her body and on her face. Overall, the lighting leaves the woman’s personality and emotion a mystery, but it certainly makes her seem bold and important.

3. Surreal

4.I picked this photo to fit the theme of surreal because it is unusual and is a bizarre twist on a seemingly normal picture of jellyfish. This photo spoke to me most because it reminded me of a trip I took to the aquarium in South Carolina. When I was 14 I took a bunch of pictures of the different kinds of jellyfish and each tank was lit completely different from each other. the lighting of this particular jellyfish species reminded me of how these jellyfish were lit at the aquarium; with faint blue light that makes it seem like they’re electrified and if you touch them you’ll get shocked. What makes this photo surreal is the fact that there is a woman in a dress whose legs have turned into the tentacles of a jellyfish.

Light Observation

  1. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10 near Enterprise.
  2. On the side walk there was a little clear puddle on the floor like a mirror and in the middle there was a flash bright zig zag white purple line which was lighting.
  3. I was walking to one of my classes and it was raining. I looked down and there as a bunch of puddles around me. One in particular caught my eye because it was like a flash of purple light for a quick second. Even though it was for a few seconds it was enough time to observe the detail of the light. It was a crooked, bent, curved line. What really made the shape stand out was the color of white and purple. I thought it was really pretty and interesting to see an exotic light coming from the sky. For a moment I was shook because I was viewing this through a puddle and still got to see detail as if I was looking up into the sky.

  2. Surreal
  3. This picture caught my attention because it is surreal to me that a women would be using a dog as perfume. Also the size of the dog also seems to be unusually small. I like how it looks like the spray coming out from the dog is a light source hitting her cheek. There is also light hitting her neck, shoulder, and knuckles but to me there seems to be an emphasis on her chin.

Lighting Observation #9

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: April 6th, 7:40pm, Playhouse

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The stage is lit up with lights, as well as the house.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Lights surround everyone else, but I am in the dark, watching it all. Watching it all unfold. It is peaceful, the lights are not too bright and yet I can still see. They are dim enough to allow for peacefulness but bright enough that I know where to look. I don’t pay attention to anything surrounding me. Right now I just take a breath and breathe in the lights. Letting the peace engulf me.

  2. Surreal
  3. I chose this photo because I think it really demonstrates surrealism. Things that contradict the conscious mind. Its the connection between dream like and conscious. To me this photo perfectly demonstrates that. I also enjoy the colors used in the photo because its such a contrast between this guy with his body open and the landscape behind him.

Light Observation

  1. 4/5/17, around 12 AM, one of those streets near South campus
  2. There was a very bright, white streetlamp that was lighting up the entire road. It made me focus on a short white gate in front of a house. There was a tree between the house and the gate, the trunk was painted white for some reason. I moved into the street and where from my point of view the top of the white part of the trunk ran along the same line as where the roof of the house began. The sky was almost looking purple with the orange light pollution mixing with the grey clouds.
  3. My exhaustion was starting to show when I looked across the street and saw a tree trunk painted white. It was glowing in the bright white light beaming down from the streetlamp. The area of the road was clearly lit for more than 30 feet… it looked like daytime at midnight. I felt delusional.
