Lighting – 4 Seasons

autumn VLL - autumn

AUTUMN:
FIGURES:

CYCLORAMA:

TOP: NC 50%, AP8100 25%

This picture conveyed the right idea I wanted to capture to define autumn – it appears to be morning with a very tranquil fog, leaves covering the ground, but still enough life to suggest early autumn, when nature is just starting to wind down for winter.
I wanted to show the fog with the use of white light, as well as the reddish pink in the lighting on the bottom of the cyclorama and the figures, caring more about that than the green vegetation in the picture.

winter VLL - winter

WINTER:
FIGURES:
AP4850 75% – FRONT CENTER
AP4830 75% – FRONT SR
CYCLORAMA:
BOTTOM: AP4300 50%, AP3450 50%
TOP: NC 75%, AP4600 10%

The tone I got from the picture I picked was of solitude and peace – the stars blurring around the focal point show time passing without any change, and though there are deep shadows and very cold blues, it does not seem foreboding due to the light from the top.
Thus, the light from the top is white, though the figure I wanted to keep somewhat dark as I liked the effect on the ice in my picture.

VLL - spring spring

SPRING:
FIGURES:
AP4500 50% – FRONT SR
NC 75% – FRONT SL
AP7350 – FRONT SL [2 positions down]
CYCLORAMA:
BOTTOM: NC 25%, AP2800 50%, AP 5430 50%, AP 5940 50%
TOP: NC 25%, AP3400 50%, AP2600 25%

Spring to me is light and airy, so I picked a picture with a lot of light and air. I then did my best to capture the colors on the cyclorama, though I brightened up the green for effect, then added bright yellow sunlight to the figures themselves.

VLL - summer summer

SUMMER:
FIGURE SL:
NC 25% – FRONT SL
AP7500 FULL – FRONT SL [1 position to the right]
AP4800 FULL – FRONT SR
AP5800 75% – MID SL [3 positions down]
AP7600 FULL – MID SR [4 positions down]
FIGURE SR:
AP7500 75% – FRONT SL
AP4800 50% – FRONT SR
AP5800 50% – MID SL [3 positions down]
AP7600 FULL – MID SR [4 positions down]
CYCLORAMA:
BOTTOM: AP6500 20%, AP5800 25%, AP5940 50%
TOP: NC 20%, AP2190 50%

With this season I wanted to capture the heavy humidity and wistfulness of summer, so my picture shows a lot of light from the sun, but with a lot of shadow from the trees, adding depth to the shot.
I did my best to capture the colors important to the season – greens and yellows, as well as the orange light of the setting sun.
