Light Observation 1

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 1/30/13 at 4:00 PM in my dorm room

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: White string lights hanging from the wall are the only artificial lights illuminating my small dorm room. The afternoon sun comes in through the blinds.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I have finally taken down my multi-colored Christmas lights and replaced them with white lights instead. Though much dimmer than the standard overhead lights, they cast a warm inviting glow throughout the room that is far preferable to the harsh fluorescents. Having just hung these lights they make the entire room feel fresh and different, and miles away from the drab dorm room I left behind at the end of last semester. The addition of the soft afternoon sun streaming into the room from between the blinds makes the entire room feel so comfortable and homey, despite it’s often drab oatmeal appearance.
