DESCRIPTION: This is at Hollywood Studios at Disney World. Two years ago. This is a Christmas light display that wraps around the second half of the park. When you turn the color and see this display you have to stop in your tracks and take in everything. When people turn the corner, everyone stops in their tracks and takes in this beautiful site and just stand there in awe. This year was the last year they did the display and I am glad that this event had such a big impact on me.

2. I took this picture in 2011, on a family vacation in January.

3. Inspiring.

4. First off, this picture is personally inspiring because for as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to work at and for Disney. So whenever I get the chance to go to Disney World, my dreams are reminded and renewed and I am newly inspired to work even harder to achieve my dreams. But even if you weren’t me and had that kind of attachment to this picture, it’s still pretty inspiring. The fireworks creating white light arcing up towards Cinderella’s Castle are reminiscent of shooting stars, which inspire and grant wishes. The contrast of that against the black sky brings even more hope – that you can fight the darkness with even the littlest bit of light. And if you shine that light even brighter, you can create something truly beautiful.

4) The “World of Color” Show was the most touching lighting experience I ever had. It is what inspired me to want to be a lighting designer. The way the light illuminated the water while casting a shadow over the crowed was a truly magical experience. The sky was a perfect black canvas for the beautiful illuminations. With the beautiful ferris wheel illuminated and Mickey’s smiling face cast almost as a watermark across the whole show, the feeling of magic and never left the performance.

4) This is Cinderella’s Castle in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom at night in december a week from Christmas. My high school choir had the opportunity to sing at Epcot’s Candlelight Processional. We stayed for a week and went to the major Disney theme parks. Disney has always had a very intense emotional impact on me. As a child I fell in love with each and every character in the classic movies. I wished I could meet them and I always dreamed of going to Disney World to do so. When my school was contacted about this amazing chance I knew it was a trip I would remember for the rest of my life. At the time of this picture I was with a few of my closest friends. We went through 4 years of high school together and we were all excited for the fireworks display. We sat around the central area in front of the castle and just talked. Moments before it got too dark, we saw a very special moment happen in front of us: a marriage proposal. That set the tone for the rest of our night. The Castle lit up and we were awestruck. It was too beautiful for words. The lights changed to different color schemes and unique christmas displays for the season. We were laughing and having a great time. I didn’t want it to end. That week, and that night specifically, was one of the most pure moments of happiness I’ve ever had.

Disney’s World of Color is their latest show of lights and magic at the Disneyland Resort.  Similar to the classic Fantasmic, World of Color takes place in the open lagoon of Disney’s California Adventure, and features a montage of light, music, and color alongside minimal narration.  Instead of fireworks, lasers and lights illuminate the jets of water that dance choreographed to projections of Disney characters on giant “screens” of water.  In a montage of sheer evil, The Bells of Notre Dame turns to Stravinski’s Firebird, turns to Night On Bald Mountain, turns to the wildebeest stampede that kills Mufasa.  There are so many colors in every direction, fountains bursting to life out of the depths of the lagoon.  The rest of the park lights extinguished, this show fills the place with its life and bringing about laughs, tears, and sheer awe from beginning to end.
