Lighting Observation 6

2. I took my little sister out to dinner before taking her to the airport. When we were in the restaurant the lights dimmed. At first I thought I was just going nuts, but my little sister noticed it as well.
3. When it first happened I was shocked, and looked to Sam for confirmation. It was a subtle change: the warm soft golden hues of the lights to a slightly dimmer, almost harsher darker golden tones. It was clear we had just been ‘mood-light’-ed. But that got me thinking: why is this considered mood lighting? I know people eat more if it’s dimmer, but it didn’t make sense. Why would a restaurant willingly change its atmosphere to resemble that of a dank room? I preferred the lighter, airy version of when we walked in. It was cheerier, nicer and more inviting. This was nice’s distant cousin whom no one talks about because they’re so closed off and cranky.
