Four Season Project

Fall Sunset in Hawaii

I chose this image and colors because the sunsets in the Pacific are absolutely amazing and the colors that dance across the sky are quite amazing.

Noon on a Hot Summer day in New England

Hot summer days remind me of the rolling beaches of Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. I felt that incorporating some of this harsh, yet comforting light will add more to the scene.

Winter Afternoon in Alaska

I liked the blue of the snow in the bottom picture and i tried to incorporate it into my lighting. Since winter is cold, I tried incorporating lots of blue and white light.

Light Observation

  1. Driving down the Cross Island Parkway at 6 am on Wednesday
  2. I saw a beautiful sunrise break over the island as I drove home.
  3. I rarely see sunrises cuz i’m not a morning person so the fact that i was able to see one was an absolute miracle. It was so beautiful. the colors were a pink/orange and the clouds were a bright yellow. The trails of airplanes cris-crossing the sky.

Photo Observation

  1. Found this by doing a Google search
  2.  Theme: Summer!
  3. My favorite place is a beach with crystal blue water. Every time i think of the sand between my toes and the cool blue water I am brought to my happy place. This is the true meaning of happiness. too feel so at peace in one place.

Lighting Observation #?

  1. April 6, 2017 at 10pm outside Nassau Hall
  2. Headlights from the cars are making cool effects on the wet surface on the road.
  3. The light seems to be dancing on the water that was leftover from the rain. It was calming to look at and it helped me relax after the stress of the day.

Surreal

  1. I found this photo on Pintrest
  2. Theme: Surreal
  3. i love this picture because it reminds me of Dali and his work with time. Time is a fickle thing and i felt that Dali embodied that in all of his work. This is a tribute to him and the dream-like images that embodies surrealist work.

Lighting Observation

  1. Sitting in the library on Wednesday night around 10:50 pm.
  2. Bright light hitting a white statue.
  3. The statue itself is pure white, as well as the light hitting it. i can see every inch of the statue in perfect detail. But staring at it too long is beginning to hurt my eyes. However, i can’t seem to look away.

Photo Observation

  1. I found this on Pintrest
  2. Theme: Spooky
  3. Whenever i look at this photo, i feel a sense of unease. The eerie light coming through the trees isn’t illuminating everything and because of that, it makes one’s imagination go wild. I always think there’s something there watching me.

Photo Observation

  1. This photo was taken by a photographer friend of mine
  2. Theme: Single Subject/ Single Light Source
  3. I really live how he uses light in photos. This one is particular is so simple, yet i get chills every time i look at it. You can see her face clearly and it looks so intense.

Lighting Observation

  1. Axinn Library, Thursday March 16 2017 around 2 pm
  2. there was some gorgeous sunlight coming in through the window I was sitting next to.
  3. Sunlight always seems to be brighter after a snowstorm. the world seems much brighter and happier on Thursday, which must have been due to the light bouncing off of the snow. All the light did cheer me up though, since i was sitting writing a paper at the time.

Photo Observation

  1. i found this photo on Pintrest
  2. Theme: Happy
  3. I love the feeling when I’m walking on a beautiful sunny day and Its so tranquil. That brings me happiness
