Drama 16 Stage Lighting

Time: 2:00 pm Friday, outside Cafe on the Quad

Objective Description: The sun was shining, making everything look warm. The plants had finally started growing. It was a perfect spring day.

Subjective Description: I was outside Cafe on the Quad, finally enjoying an iced tea because it’s not freezing cold any more. Sunlight coated everything in sight. The trees, bushes, buildings, and even the stone tables and benches looked warm, welcoming, and happy. There were barely any clouds in the sky to mar this perfect sight. The soft, natural sunlight made it really feel like spring. It felt like all living things were reaching for the sky and growing into something beautiful. This was the first time I noticed buds on the trees and tulips starting to sprout. Like the plants, I felt encouraged by the sun and positive and excited about what is to come in the future.

22 Feb. 2016 – 1:19pm – 2nd story Breslin Hall

The sun shines through a dirty window and also appears to reflect off of the bricks on the exterior of the building some. This shines a textured and patterned light on the interior wall and some grey doors of Breslin Hall. On the slightly peach-colored, off-white wall, the light looks cream, and, on the grey doors, the light looks light greenish with some blue in it.

The lighting is rough and intriguing. It displays a gobo-like pattern on an ordinary surrounding; thus, making the setting endowed with a theatrical magic. No longer are the objects just a wall and some doors; they are gritty like sand and mysterious like ocean waves with splashes of whitish foam and deeper colors. The lighting harkens to the beach with its reflected greenish and cream colors. The wall and doors are foreign objects in a bland classroom building setting with this lighting softly expanding across it. A breath filled with the smell of the ocean and dampness of water can be felt and imagined through this lighting. The lighting is transporting, alluring to the eye, and soothing with its gentle contrast between the light and shapes created by its false gobo.

The lighting theme is hot.

Orange, red, and yellow may be cooler in terms of degrees Kelvin but they are associated with warm things like the sun and fire. The big bright hues of the sky reflect the excessive warmth of the lighting. The sky is on fire, red hot. The golden ball of gaseous matter shines like the largest gem and greatest treasure in the sky and makes the sky its hue. It is yellow and white with a hint of orange like a match flame glowing bright to light a candle. It is thus a mass producer of heat parching the landscape like how a used match is charred. It silhouettes and gives a highlight of red to the things beneath it like what a dreamer might imagine the Martian landscape to look like. This red makes the world seem hot like a laser beam has been pointed at everything. The distribution is wide engulfing the entire sky and majority of the landscape in the warm colors and causing the silhouetting to occur. The light source glows with warmth, and the lighting is as hot as a bright red pepper tastes as a consequence.

3) As I lay in bed, I looked towards my window. The waning light of this beautiful spring day pushed its way through the blinds. The pattern it left of the floor was awe-inspiring, twisting pinks and oranges dancing between linear shadows. Spring has finally come.

3)When I opened the door to the courtyard of Colonial Square, I wasn’t expecting the atmosphere of pure joy that was waiting for me. The sun shone brightly everywhere, illuminating everything in all the best ways. Each blade of grass shone with the promise of spring time, and the yellow light around me filled me with the aura of immense happiness.

Objective Description: The sun reflecting off of the windows of Breslin

Subjective Description: As I approached the building, I was immediately blinded. For the first time in a long time, the sun was bright and hot in the sky. It always seems that when the weather is nice, the sun appears more beautiful. The magnificent beams of light bounced off of the windows of Breslin, and streamed across my face. I felt their warmth. This light represented all that is to come in the coming season, and for the first time this year, I felt like the endless winter was coming to an end.

4) This is one of my favorite photos I have ever taken. The light from the sun shines so brightly you cant help but feel inspired from it. Similarly, the silhouette of the person is defined in such a way that you can not tell whether it is a man or woman but the posture of the figure gives a confident and positive feeling to it. This picture gives me a feeling of confidence and drive to complete the tasks in my life.

Inspiring

This photo I find particularly inspiring for many reasons. For one, I have found the concept of space and space exploration inspiring and exciting all my life. Most importantly, I think the composition of the photo is inspiring. The sun peaking out over the earth shines as a beacon of light that motivates you to be the best you can. It slowly starts to illuminate the Earth, which is like illuminating the your path, and showing that the world is yours to conquer.

3) THEME: Inspiring

4) DESCRIPTION: As we came to the top of the this valley, I saw it there before me. There was the peak. I had come this far, so I knew that I couldn’t back down now. Behind the peak, high in the sky, was the mid-afternoon sun. I could feel the individual rays reaching out towards me. I knew that once I got to the top of the peak, I would feel as if I could touch the bright sun above me. The light reflected off of the snow, making it glimmer around me. The sparkles that came from the ground made it look like someone had dropped some diamonds. I kept climbing, with a new hope within me. I would reach the top. I would feel the sky.

3. Dreamlike

4. It is the crack of dawn on a desolate beach, and the sun has begun to light up the deep blue sky.  Shining over the horizon, rays of red, orange and yellow cast down upon the hot sand.  The beaming sun shines down on two lush trees creating long, dark shadows along the ground. The silhouettes of the trees lie on the seemingly blue sand that hasn’t been fully illuminated by the sun’s inviting rays.  The golden light can fool anybody into thinking they are in a dream.
