Lighting Observation #3

16th of February, 10:00pm , Enterprise 13th floor lounge.

Objective description: the dim lights from the night outside dimly cast across the walls through large windows.

Subjective description: Imposing black shadows stretch across the walls of the room, crating a cell around me, trapping me in the dimly lit room. The only light in my shadowy cell is faint and tinged with red, giving no comfort to cling to in my haunting cage.

Lighting Ob #6

  1. 3/2/2016, 10:39pm, Lowe 106
  2. Objective: Florescent lights used in all of the buildings are turned on. Street lamps shine in from the windows.
  3. Subjective: The light in the room feels drab and uninteresting. I feel like this is due to our common association with florescent lighting. It reminds us of classrooms and office buildings which not many people like. But the light from outside is much nicer. It has a small film around it that brings a peacefulness with the nighttime.

Light Observation #8

1) 3/19/2013, 8:19Am, Republic Hall Room 208

2) Against my window blinds, shadows are cast by the trees and lamppost outside my room. Those are joined by the silhouette of the middle bar of  the window.

3) On my window blinds, a landscape is painted. Simply by looking at the form of the shade, a whole idea of the world beyond is formed. The shadows plant thoughts in one’s head. Each shade could be one thing, or something else entirely. The world past that window is a mystery, but the shadows tease and tantalize us, making us guess as to what could be casting them.
