Photo Observation #10

Champagne!

PARTY!

This looks like a party to me. I really like the way the white light seems very warm, highlighting the color of the champagne, and how it is dispersed by the fizz. It emphasizes the droplets, which makes the photo feel more fun. It feels explosive (in a good way) and vibrant, but simple.

Lighting Observation #20

1.) Thursday Apr. 14th 2011, 11:30 P.M. Somewhere in Levittown.

2.) The creepy lights of “Lazer Bounce.”

3.) Next door to the Denny’s in Levittown is a sketchy arcade called “Lazer Bounce,” which is open until midnight, though it is obviously meant for children, judging by the room-sized moonbounce/laser tag room visible from outside (which is creepy in itself.) My friends and I looked inside, and the lighting was a combination of bright, sickly overhead fluorescents and a dizzying assortment of tiny, Christmas light-sized bulbs of all colors covering everything. It made me uncomfortable and I felt creepy just by being outside. It reminded me of a horror house, like something you’d see on an old TV show meant to scare elementary school children. Maybe it was because it was late, and all the brightness and color contrasted with the darkness outside, but it felt like a place I’d never take a kid.

Lighting Observation #19

1.) Thursday Apr. 14th 2011, 5:20 P.M. Lowe 108.

2.) The glare from the setting sun.

3.) The sun wasn’t really setting, but it was getting very low in the sky, and it was in a position that caused a very intense glare through the windows of the doors in 108. The lights were on but rather dim, so there was this rosy, warm glow in the room that felt like something you’d see in a country cottage in summer. It made me feel like spring had actually come, which was nice. It was a healthy, natural sort of lighting, the kind you’d try very hard to recreate with specific colors onstage.

2nd Light Observation Week 11

Light Observation Week 11

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 04/13 Dorm room

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Light from a desk lamp

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The flourscent lights always bother me, especially when I’m tired. When I turned them off and turned on my desk lamp this warm yellow glow seemed to flood the entire room. It didn’t look anything like it did before. What was once cold and uninviting now seemed welcoming and strangely enough like someone actually lived here now.

“Party” Photo Observation

3) THEME: Party

4) DESCRIPTION: To me whenever I think of a party I think of my and my friends sitting by a fire in the middle of the summer just chilling. The glow of the the fire is intense and striking and the embers seem to dance as they float away from the originial flame. I just always associate fire with wild and unexpected things that always lead to a good time.

Photo Observation 10- I think

2. Party

I like the hot reds and oranges, its very intense and feels like a bunch of sweaty bodies rockin’ out, partying hard core. It’s very hot, sensual, very party. I also like how the people are all in silhouette, and that you can see the beams of the lights, it’s pretty cool. Especially the one in the middle which reminds me of the sun, ironically. It makes me think of these people partying all hours of the night to the point where they have become nocturnal and now see these artificial lights as replacing the sun.
