Drama 16 Stage Lighting

2)Objective: The sunlight was shining and reflecting off of a glass mug filled with green beer. Which then was reflecting a green light onto the tables.

3)Subjective: The green reflection gave me a happy feeling. Being that it was St.Patrick’s Day, it shined like it was the end of the rainbow leading to a pot of gold. Also it was just great to see the green reflection coming from different peoples mugs. It was like I was surrounded by a green light of people’s envy towards me! It was kind of cool!

4) DESCRIPTION: This photo fells very depressing to me. Not only are the colors very subdued, but the lights streaming through the blinds appear to be coming from a car driving past on a very dark day. It is a small glimpse into this girls dark and dreary world.

4) DESCRIPTION: The colors are very desaturated, but still contrast sharply. More than the positive space, I feel that the negative space portrays sadness, because it is so immense that it is pushing in on the subject.

Location: My dorm room, 12:33am, 18th of March.

Objective Description: A single florescent fixture illuminates the entire room totally.

Subjective Description: I’m reminded of an earlier post of mine, wherein I recognized a similar effect in the drama lounge. It prompts two predominant thoughts.

1) “Oh, real original.”

2) “These florescent lights are everywhere – and they suck.”

Location: Outside Lowe, about 7pm, Thursday, 17th of March.

Objective Description: It is dusk. I can see classroom lights still on in the windows of the building directly across the quad.

Subjective Description: As everything around grows dimmer, and the grayness of the brick structure of the building is somehow accentuated, the few remaining lights I see fill up their windows totally. There is a sort of isolated warmth and welcome to them – but also a sort of two-dimensionality.

I took this photo a while ago.

This is for the sad theme.

How’s it sad? Most of the light that hits me is from behind – this makes the reflection look very flat and drained of life, because there’s no light on the face that we see. There’s also a very intense light on the wall and door between me and the reflection, and in this intense light, my shadow is cast. It looks more like I’m focusing my attention on the shadow than on the reflection – which somehow seems sad.
