Photo observation #3

Photo taken by me on 10/19/2022, inside Terminal 5

Theme: Nightlife

Description: This picture was taken at a concert I attended with a close friend, for a band called The Rose. The photo was taken right before they were going to start-around 8 pm that day. Concerts do a good job of showcasing what night life means to me. Concerts are usually the only reason that would push me to stay out that late and forego a good night sleep. There are multiple different colored lighting happening here. All the lights are vibrant pinks, reds, and blues in the otherwise dark venue. There was a lot of movement in the lights coming from the stage which only added to the liveliness and high energy of the place.

Nightlife

The nightlife is alien.  A separate world from the one that I exist in which there are no rules and the mere energy of the room is intoxicating.  This photo conveys that wild feeling I associate with nightlife and the overwhelming use of green transports me from my world into an entirely different place.

Imagine Dragons Concert – Tia

Theme: Fun

Description: This is a picture I took at an Imagine Dragons concert. This was the finale of the show and there were many lights flashing all over the place in many different colors. There were also these giant colorful balloons being passed around the stadium. I chose this picture because when I think of fun I think of lots of color and of a lot of things going on  and this picture encompasses all of that.

Theme: Night life

Description: When I think of night life, I think of going out and doing something fun and exciting – like a concert! This is a picture taken at a Coldplay concert during the Mylo Xyloto tour (2011-2012). The neon, laser-like lights perfectly capture the energetic mood of the event. When you see lights like this, you know your night is going to be anything but dull.

Photo Observation #7

2) Photo taken by Nic Christopher at a concert in Maui of Jake Shimabukuro

3) THEME: Portrait or strong central figure

4) DESCRIPTION: This photo was taken in Maui, Hawaii and their Arts and Cultural Center. I was visiting with my patents one night in the center and we saw that my favorite ukulele player, Jake Shimabukuro was playing that night. We got tickets for his concert along with VIP tickets to be able to sit in on his sound check and take pictures before the audience arrived. It was a great opportunity to see what it was like before the show started. I snapped this picture of Jake just before he left the stage as he was playing one of his songs called Me and Shirley T. During the sound check they were also messing around with the lighting and playing with different ques on the light board.

The backdrop of the stage was a full sized projector screen that had a design of his name with different color washes across the back. Jake is by no means a performer that puts on crazy light shows and amazing spectacle for his audience. People generally go to his concerts to enjoy his stories and music. What I liked about this picture is that it shows how fully engrossed Jake is within his music and the lighting is modeling his face and instrument very nicely and it shows lots of dimension with all of the different colors and shadows that are added to his body. I felt that this lighting was simple enough to fit within his style but also “poppy” enough to make the audience get really into the show and the songs that he played for us.
