Light Observation #6

1.) My room in my apartment, Uniondale NY. 3/6/18 @ 8pm.

2.) While filling my pod with insulin, the light from the lamp was directly behind the vile of insulin in my line of sight. Inside the vile a vertical lazer like light appeared. It was a deep amber and very warm.

3.) The lazer beam was like a powerful energy force trapped inside a container waiting to be released to wreak havoc. It was so bright it hurt to look at for long periods of time. It could be a heat source to warm up a cold room in the winter, or a electric bolt for a super weapon as well.

Light Observation 5

1.) Hempstead Turnpike, Long Island New York, March 1st, 7pm.

2.) I am in the passenger seat of the car with my friend driving down the street to Trader Joes. It is dark outside and the street lamps are on. While sitting in my seat I can notice the glare on the street lights on the window showing the horizontal marks on the car from when it was hand dried at the car wash last week. The lamps of the street lights are a warmer temp, appearing to be orange almost. On the,  bottom of the car window the lights from the passing car’s headlights make a glare similar to the street  lamps, but their temperature is cooler, appearing creamy yellow.

3.) These lights made me think about life passing by. The lights would come and go one by one, each one a representation of a life time on this planet. While bright and lively, it is only a brief moment. Then it dims off, only for the next light to appear. Over the course of the 20 minuet drive hundreds of lights will have passed by. Each one being erased after its brief moment of existence.

wow, Sounds like something Becket would say, kind of dark.

Light Observation #4

1.) My Home in Attlboro Massachusetts. 4:35pm Saturday

2.) My sisters daughter’s room is on the 2nd floor of our house. The room has pink walls, pink furniture, and pink curtains (I know, its a but much). However, what is cool is that when the sun starts going down the beams come through the window, trough the pink curtains, bounce off the pink walls, and shoot strait out of the room. The pink rays make the light in the hallway pink directly across from the door and the floor leading to it is also pink.

3.) When the door is closed, the pink faintly peaks out from the bottom of  the door. When I walked towards it I imaged that I was walking towards a portal to another world, uncertain of what was on the other side. Then as I open the door to see the other side, I am hit with a array of pink light that blinds me and knocked me over. Its like being punched in the face by a fairy.

Mysterious

This photo is mysterious because you can only see under the street lamps, you can’t see what is in the woods. The trees are outlined by the dark blue sky. The people walking in the background could be anyone. Are they a couple on a walk? Or hitmen going to claim their next victim? Everything outside of the street lights warm beam is a mystery…

Light Observation #3

1.) My Room Wednesday Night 2/14/18 @ 8pm.

2.) A Lava Lamp on in my dark room. The lava Lamp has a cool temperature, it is a light blue. The small Lava lamp is siting on top of my white bureau shelving in the corner of my room. My curtains are down blocking all of the Uniondale streetlights. The light turns the corner of my room a bright light blue. The beams reaches out to about 3/4 of my room and fades out before it can reach the forth wall. My walls are a light green color and when mixed with the blue light it made a very light blue-green, more blue than green. The blue light also reflected off my TV screen and gave some extra light to my bed.

3.) This light gives me an interstellar feeling. I feel like I am in a space ship that is far out in deep space. The only light source that can be seen is the blue light source running the life tanks.

Photo Observation #3

Location: Quebec City, Canada. nighttime.

I picked this photo because I like the effect the light string made on the street. At night time, everything that lights up spreads across the landscape. In this photo the lights have different levels of warmth so I can see how far each light travels. The string lights are higher up and make a strong beam directly below but the beam weakens then intensifies again when it gets to the next beam. The street lights spread is much more compact to the lamp post and below it, the beam does leak into that of the string lights.

This lighting gives off a joyous mood. The light is bright and playful. It reminds me of a carnival lighting back home in Massachusetts. I get a very welcoming feeling from the lighting in this photo. I picture this mood in one of those hallmark movies my mother always watches around Christmas time(although, there would probably be more snow).

Photo Observation #2

Shade created by a texture of a roof style: Pintrest

I found this photo while browsing photography images online. What I like about this image is how you cannot see what the top is shaped but you can see the shadow of the shape. The light is coming from the top left in this image. I also like that the photo is in black and white so you can enjoy the shadows and intensities in the image.

Lighting Description #2

Location: Emily Lowe 2nd Floor 8:50 am in our classroom.

In our classroom there was a lamp placed on the desk in the front left corner. The first two windows in the room have their blinds closed the following windows are pulled up to about three quarters. The lights are all off except the lamp and the projection of jelly fish. The light from the lamp is a warm yellow. The lamp lights up the top corner of the desk but creates a shadow on the floor immediately close to the desk. The light makes a 90 degree angel with the outside being light and the inside being a shadow. The walls are hit with much lower intensity than the desk and it washes over everything in the room. My skin is ever so slightly yellowed by the light.

The light creates a mysterious mood. It reminds me of a lone street lamp on a dark street. Or a light from stranger things. I think the light has a retro feel because the lamp is using bulbs from the the 70’s and 80’s. I can picture a room with this lone lamp in a movie about Aliens and the light would flicker as the Alien approaches the room.

Lighting Observation

Lighting moment 1/29/18: Drama Lounge 2:05pm

I am in the far back right hand corner of the Drounge. It is mid afternoon and a heavy over cast. The light is coming in from the big window on the back wall. It is a very bright white light. It light is filling the room completely except where the table is and casts a shadow in the middle of the floor. On the other side of the room the doorway is emitting light from the hallway but only reaches halfway into the room. The light is a darker yellow. It mixes with the white light to create a creme color on the white wall. How ever the adjacent wall is just being hit with the bright white light because the door is blocking the yellow light.

The light gives off a conflicting mood. The dominate white light area gives off a cold (In the sense of unfriendly) mood, while the creme yellow side gives off a friendly, more comfortable mood. It is like a ying and yang symbol. Pending where I was sitting I felt a different mood inside of the lounge.

Title: “Fiery Sunset in Ocean-Side, December 10 2017” -Pintrest

Theme: Sunset

A strong radiant sunset on a beach in the winter. The sun is still fully in  the sky but close to the horizon. The center is a dark yellow, and a creamy orange surrounds the yellow. The outer layer is a high intense red-orange. The outer most layer is rich lavender that reflects onto the sand as well. This sunset reminds me of a dramatic scene in Star Wars the Force Awakens when the X Wings are riding in from the sunset to confront the Storm Troopers. The light is so strong that the colors in the water are almost as rich as the colors in the sky.
