Light Observation

1. Saturday, April 26 2014 ~4:00pm, Barnes and Noble parking lot

2. I was getting in my car, leaving B&N and the sky was cleanly split in two between blue sky and storm clouds.

3. It was like something out of a movie, it was amazing. Behind me was this nice, calm blue sky that made you think you could just take a nap on the grass or walk the beach. But in front of me was this ominous dark blue/purple/grey mass of storm clouds that was slowly overtaking the serene blue sky. Of course, not two minutes later it started raining, which also began like a curtain coming towards me from the dark mass.

3. Shadow

4. This picture really embodies what shadows are to me. Not just because of the fact that the focal point is just one big shadow, but that the actual subject is obscured. We see nothing of her- a highlight from the light, but she is completely incomprehensible. And that’s what shadows are – they’re unknown. They’re the things that creep in through the night behind the light. They’re unknown, unidentifiable, which is exactly what the subject of this picture is.

Light Observation

1) April 30th, 3:00pm, Hofstra

2) Rainy sky

3) Everything is grey and it is so sad. It looks grey and lifeless outside and I don’t know if it’s because I’m sick but the whole world looks like a hospital room. This is very depressing lighting.

Photo Observation #12

Favorite

Photo of my house that I took probably 2011

Favorite: Shadow

I really like this photo because of the shadows that cover the ground and house. There are four large maple trees along the side of the house that, though invisible to the camera, are evident from the patterns created all over the photo.

Light Observation #12

1. April 30th, 2:15 pm, Calkins Hall

2. It is raining outside and it is very cloudy and grey out.

3. As I stand at the door of Calkins hall beneath the overhang, I mentally prepare myself for going into the rain. The grey clouds hang low in the sky unleashing their burdens on Hofstra’s campus. Everything is a bleak and dreary and it’s difficult to motivate myself to step out into the rain.

Max Cerci – Light Observation

1) 4/30/14 8:59 waiting for class to begin.

2) The light against the water droplets on the window in class.

3) The barely visible light coming from the clouds just barely made it into the room, shining through the window, but not before hitting the droplets of water on the window. It was really cool to see each individual droplet shining differently. I noticed how the light gave the droplets dimension and made it easier to see the form of each individual droplet.

2) Taken by me on on the residential side of campus.

3) Sunrise/Sunset

4) I love how the sun in this photo creates a silhouette  around the stop sign. It’s almost as the light is stronger, more overpowering force than the negative “Stop” sign. The shadow in this photo seems to send a message of not listening to those things that tell you not to do something or to stop trying. I think this is an important message in theatre in general.
