Lighting Observation 2/29

Objective: Two days ago, it was a beautiful and warm day outside. I enjoy waking up and seeing the dim light shining through the window behind my head. It is a cool white through the curtains, and barely reaches the other side of my bedroom.

Subjective: It’s very peaceful to wake up to such a light in my room, as if someone had gently shifted the lights on for me to awake. This always reminds me of a movie-like scene, where the character wakes up and the light is dim but still bright enough to be daytime. It’s very peaceful and calming.

Photo Observation 2/29

This photo was taken by me at a club called Somewhere Nowhere. This is my favorite club because you get to see the beautiful skyline, and there is a lot of disco balls and other lighting aspects that create cool lighting concepts around the entirety of the room.

Lighting Observation 2/22

Objective: Walking to class this morning, I noticed the light shined through the trees in a similar way as when it shines through the forest while I am snowmobiling. The faster you go, the beams of light pop out of the branches and openings like little sparkles in the sky. I was reminded of this sight today, just in a much slower fashion.

Subjective: The light shining through the trees today reminded me of the mystical feeling of snowmobiling through the forest back home, in (wayyyy) Upstate New York. When I’m snowmobiling, the snow on the trail and in the trees around me looks very magical. It’s very hard to explain, but cruising through the winds and bends of the trail feels like a beautiful fairytale. The sun is always shining, but not hot enough to melt the snow. The snow is bright and cheery, and it lights up the path and allows for shadows and bumps to be highlighted so the rider can see what’s coming next.

Lighting Observation 2/22

This photo was taken by me in October at Bald Mountain in Old Forge. It was very cold and windy outside, but the fog and clouds looked beautiful with the sunlight shining through and I love this photo captured that shows it.

2/15 Photo Observation

I chose this photo of mine for “romance” because it is a very special moment for me and my boyfriend. We had just finally seen each other after a trip I went on to Las Vegas. I love this photo because it is lit by the moon and reflections surrounding us, and even though you can’t see our faces, we are so happy. This was taken by my friend Juliana Amato, on my phone.
