Lighting Observation 4/12
Objective: As we stroll down the street, sunlight gleams off the facades of the buildings, illuminating our path toward the Empire State Building.
Subjective: The sun boldly announces the morning. Even though the buildings tower high, obscuring direct sunlight, we still feel the strength of its rays reflecting off the glass windows.
Lighting Observation 4/19
Objective: I was walking on campus and noticed the light on the trees around me were moving with the wind in the leaves.
Subjective: The moving lights in the trees were like gobos as I was dancing through the forest, imagining I was performing on stage, as if it were a magical light cue.
Lighting Observation 3/15
Objective: I was on FaceTime with my friend, and noticed movement through the reflection of the microwave in front of me. I immediately jumped and screamed, assuming it was a person in my house. It was indeed my own shadow.
Subjective: The reflection of the movement on the microwave sent a shock of shivers down like in a horror movie. I screamed bloody murder, accepting that of my own fate. For that split second, my mind raced like a horse of all the possibilities that could happen.
3/7 Lighting Observation
3/7 Lighting Observation
Objective: I was driving down a long, sun-lit road in Garden City. The pavement was lit by the sun, but covered in shadows from moving cars and the surrounding trees on either side of the road.
Subjective: The country music blaring in my car mixed with the bright sunshine created a music video-like scene in my mind. As I was driving, I pictured such a music video with myself in the car, (but probably a convertible), and the sunlight just shining down on me and my car, creating a vibrant and happy scene that was totally Hollywood.
Lighting Observation 2/29
Objective: Two days ago, it was a beautiful and warm day outside. I enjoy waking up and seeing the dim light shining through the window behind my head. It is a cool white through the curtains, and barely reaches the other side of my bedroom.
Subjective: It’s very peaceful to wake up to such a light in my room, as if someone had gently shifted the lights on for me to awake. This always reminds me of a movie-like scene, where the character wakes up and the light is dim but still bright enough to be daytime. It’s very peaceful and calming.
