Date: 3/18/23
Time: Around 4:30 PM
Location: My room
Objective: The LED lights in my room being set to mixtures of blue and yellow shades.
Subjective: All the shades of light working together make the room appear as one might imagine under the sea would from The Little Mermaid scenes. The colors remind me of coral reefs, and the various colors animators chose for the movie, as well as the various lighting instruments in the stage production. It makes me feel like I’m under the water and with peace and calm.

Theme: Single Source Light
Description: I keep getting stand up comedy videos recommended to me, so for a single source theme I figured I would use an actor on stage with a single spotlight creating frontlight with no horizontal angle.

Date: 3/4/23
Time: Middle of the afternoon, around 2PM
Location: Philadelphia flower show
Objective: Grounded lights shining up through the flower petals.
Subjective: Nature is a beautiful thing. Creating a show to show off the splendor and magnificence makes it even more beautiful. The lights shining through the petals bring out the colors, each arrangement telling its own story. Everyone you see wonder and excitement, color and vibrance, taking the time to see and enjoy nature is a beautiful thing.

Theme: Bizarre
I chose this photo since typically the moon does not appeal blue, especially from my house in Maryland. The lighting makes it feel like a real life scene taken from a fiction movie. it makes me feel as if people are about to go to battle, but the spirit of the lake is about to appear out of a misty pond.

Location: Walking back from the Nethies core to my house
Date: 3/3/23
Time: 9:45PM
Objective: Moonlight filtering in through the very slightly open blinds in the house lounge.
Subjective: With all the lights off, the lounge is pitch black late at night. Moonlight calmly filters in through the windows and blinds, making all the shadowy furniture have a white aura around them, making it seem they just came out the episode of Avatar the Last Airbender where the moon spirit was killed (Season 1, episode 20) and everything turned to shades of gray. At that moment the room was filled with mystery even though I had already seen it hundreds of times before.

Theme: Night Life
Description: I chose a photo of the Capital One Arena in DC in the middle of an ice hickey game since they all take place at night. Time of the day aside, the lighting fits this theme since the entire arena is dark in the background, the only lights seen are the ones shining on the ice, and the effects stadium managers use to instill energy into the audience and the fans watching from home. Without fun effects and fun lighting in sports games, I feel that the energy would be diminished entirely. Lighting makes lots of things possible, but with vibrant colors and quick changes, it makes sports games a whole lot more fun at night when a lot of people start to lose energy, and become more tired.

Time: Around 8:15 AM
Location: Netherlands Core
Objective: The sun is still rising, illuminating the tree leaves making them look yellow in the morning sun.
Subjective: Despite no one being awake yet, all the light outside the window makes everything feel alive, the trees glow yellow as if there are higher beings behind them, and the room and spaces outside feel alive with no one to inhabit them.

Theme: Cold
Description: I chose this photo because the lighting and operation of cryo therapy chambers make everything around them far below freezing. The cold makes it so that your body’s survival instinct kicks in, and blood flow and chemicals in your body start changing, and once you step out they slowly return to normal. The lighting encompasses this same cold feeling, the blues in the background and the white with hints of blue from above the chamber bring out the smoke. Everything is made to look like ice, and the lighting sells that feeling even more.

Date/Time/Location: 2/17/23 around 1:45PM at Bernon Hall.
Objective: small amounts of sunlight coming through the above skylight through drops of rain on the glass.
Subjective: Like a fish on a rainy day, looking up towards the top of the ocean, beams of sunlight being distorted by water dimly light up the dark hallway, giving me the perspective of a fish looking up through the water, drifting about the seas with a calm life, a sense of peace after a long and challenging week.

Theme: Romance
Romance is what individuals make of it, and for a wedding it takes two people in love to make a marriage work. From lots of movies and shows weddings are fairly commonly shown on the beach at dusk. Coming from someone who hates the beach during the day, one of the most romantic things in my mind is meeting your partner at the beach as the sun is setting, the air is turning cool and the torches are lit, and you can just sit there and watch the sea as it slowly fades away into night, that to me is romance.
