Lighting Observation 3

Date/Time/Location: February 24th/ 11:00am/ My House

Objective: The sky is dark gray, there is rain coming down aggressively. It is washing away the snow that was previously on the ground. Everything is dark, yet it is only the morning. There is a gray tone all over the area.

Subjective: A rebirth of the land, washing away the tainted ground to make room for the grass once again. It has a somber yet relieving atmosphere, almost as if the earth is taking a shower.

Photo Observation

This picture of my was taken in August of 2018 in Provincetown, Cape Cod

Theme: Summer

I chose this picture because it exemplifies summer for me. There’s not a cloud in the sky, every thing is bright, and the water is calm.

Photo Observation 12

These pictures were taken by me in April of 2018

Theme : Wild Card

I chose these pictures because it was the first time I ever played with lights. We had an LED cyc at my high school and one day, we accidentally turned it on with the last traveler closed. The result was the traveler looking how its seen in the photos. After playing around with it, we put a moving rainbow color on it, and that’s how the picture came to be.

Photo Observation 9

This photo was taken by me in Times Square at 12:37pm on May14th, 2020

Theme: Surreal

This one of the most surreal photos I’ve ever taken as I personally feel it’s an accurate representation of the pandemic shutdown. This picture was taken when me and my brothers went to the city last may to see everything and it was a desolate wasteland. We saw probably less than 20 people around Midtown that day, and we stopped at Times Square and saw that every store had been closed until further notice.

Photo Observation 8

This photo was taken by me in October of 2019

Theme : Inspiration

This picture is a special one to me. Around this time, I was starting to get over a dark period of my life. One day, I was walking through this archway when I saw the sun peek through as seen in the picture. It filled me with relief, and I took it as the universe telling me that I’m finally on the other side of this dark period. It symbolizes to me that no matter how solid a wall may be in your path, light will always find a way to peek through. Figuratively speaking, of course.

Photo Observation 7

This is an ad for Taco Bell when they were selling “Double Stacked Tacos”

Theme : Advertisement/Desire

This is an ad for limited edition tacos. The light is set up to make it appear that they are on a stage being showcased. It appears as though there is a light hitting it from overhead as well as in the front of where they’re facing. The tacos look great.

Photo Observation 6

This photo was taken by me on May 24th, 2020 on Hofstra’s campus.

Theme : Spring

This is a picture of freshly bloomed flowers at the peak of the day when the sun is almost straight above. The light is hitting them directly, allowing them to nearly glisten. The angle of the light perfectly models the flowers and adds contrast to their shape.

Photo Observation 5

This photo is of a Jack-o-Lantern that was carved around halloween

Theme : Single Light Source (Artificial)

Description : The light is inside of the pumpkin, creating a silhouette of the shape that was carved into it. It is dark and mysterious, and appears to show a creepy hunchback figure with dark intentions.

Photo Observation 4

This Photo was taken by me in November of 2018 on Oak Street

Theme: Night Life

Description: There is rain on the ground and fog in the air, the streetlights all look like floating orbs. The wet ground reflects all of the lights in the sky.

Photo Observation 3

This photo was taken by me on Thursday, February 18, at 10am

Theme : Cold

I chose this picture because it was from the first time I took my puppy, Toby, out while it was snowing. The ground is covered in snow while it is still falling. The puppy’s nose also has snow on it as he was digging his face into the snow.
