Photo Observation- Bizarre

Date: February 27th 2023 in Central Pennsylvania

The sky is filled with pink and purple light streaks. The sky behind is a deep purple with the silhouettes of trees in the foreground and city lights in the wall down below. I chose this for bizarre because its out of the ordinary. You don’t see these lights every night.

Light Observation

Date: March 2nd, 2023

Time: 8:30 pm

Outside the 13th-floor kitchen window Estabrook

Objective: View out the window overlooking Long Island towards New York city with the skyline lit up.

Subjective: The skyline lights in the distance have always given me a sense of comfort. The first time I went to the city and saw the skyline at night I fell in love with it. The look of tons of little lights in the distance shows that people are living their lives and that the world is still alive.

Night Life Photo Observation

Date: November 18th, 2021

Time: 6:37

Taken by me outside the MET Opera

The lights of the city just always speak of nightlife. The many lights from tall buildings in a dark sky, give me a warm feeling. The lights from the Opera house also speak of night life; the feelings of lights in the darkness with groups of people.

Lighting Observation #2

Time: 9:00 pm

Location: Walkway between the Estabrook and Enterprise

Objective: The only light source is a few dimly lit street lamps that line the tree-covered path. The lights cast shadows of the tree limbs onto the dimly lit sidewalk.

Subjective: The lights casting shadows onto the path, with the tree limbs swaying in the wind, give an eerie feeling.

Photo Observation- Cold

Date: December 2001

https://www.centralpark.com/locations/poets-alley/

A pathway in central park, after a winter storm. The path, trees, and benches are covered in a layer of bright white snow. Practically untouched. The lighting is very gray, giving it a cold feeling.  The streetlights give hints of color but are drowned out by all the white and gray tones around them.

Lighting Observation

Date: 2/16/23

Time: 6:30pm

Location: Times Square New York

Objective: The streets of Times Square are illuminated by the many billboards, streetlights, and building lights. There is no light from the sky. The clouds are covering the moon.

Subjective: As I walk down the streets toward Times Square, I started to take in all the billboard lights. There’s something about all the lights that gave me a sense of warmth and comfort.

Lighting Observation

Outside Estabrook window 2/3/2023 5:56 pm

Objective: Sunset in the distance with trees and city lights in the foreground.

Subjective: The way the sun is setting in the distance instills a sense of warmth. The street lamps and the city lights add a calm and serene feeling. The silhouetted trees add a sense of the unknown.

Sunset Photo

Photo Taken by Me: 5:15 pm, 2/4/2023

Theme: Sunrise/Sunset

I took this photo from my dorm room window. My dorm room is west facing, so during sunsets, the light shines through my blinds and makes the room a warm orange. I like watching the sunset from my dorm window since growing up I couldn’t see the sunsets like this other than on family vacations. The gradient of color has always fascinated me. How the sky one minute can go from a light blue to these striking red, orange, and purple tones. I try to take a photo of most of the sunsets I get to see.
