The lights in the Vander Poel parking lot

There are two street lights shining on a car in two different directions, creating equal shadows on both sides of the car. The shadows on either side had a wing-like effect on the car. It looked like a huge butterfly laying in a parking lot.

The light reflecting off of a puddle I can see from 216

There are puddles of rain all over the parking lot and the street lights lining campus reflect off of them creating something that looks like a portal. There is a mix of the white street lamp and the blue safety lights combining to make a beautiful cross pattern of blue and white lights reflecting off the rippling water.

The disco ball string lights hanging up in my room

The rest of my room is completely dark except for a string of 10 mini disco ball lights. The warm light reflecting off of them is so dim, but it really makes my room feel more like a home rather than a dorm. They are so cute and warm and they really make me feel happy and safe.

The lights in a video of a Taylor Swift concert my friend showed me

The lights on the wristbands filled the stadium like snow on a black piece of paper. They changed colors along with the music which made them also look like fireflies on a summer night. It made the stadium look huge because of how many people were there, but everybody was connected by the lights on their wrists.

5/5/23 Driving around Long Island

The lights flashing at a small fair in a parking lot.

The bright, colorful, flashing lights that surrounded the parking lot drew my attention immediately and my eyes couldn’t look away. It reminded me of being a kid and fascinated by the wonder held in those bright lights. The lights made everything on the outside of the parking lot dark and creepy compared to the colorful wonderland within the lights.

Wild card

Photo taken by me in Florida over spring break

I chose this picture because I really love all of the colors you can see so clearly in the sky. The colors were so vibrant in real life and they translated beautifully on camera. We all watched the sky get more and more bright as the sun set and it is a really nice memory.

Four Seasons Light Lab

The first one is noon in Hawaii and I chose very warm colors with the light being the strongest directly above the person’s head because thats where the sun would be located at mid day. The next one is sunset in fall Vermont and there are also a lot of warm colors with the background being cool colors representing the sky and the colorful clouds I found in my research. The third picture is sunrise on a gothic Cathedral and the research I found showed very pink light and it felt very soft. The last one is the winter and it was all cool colors with light reflecting off of the snow so it is coming from all angles. I chose to think about the suns position in a lot of these and that influenced a lot of my choices.

Prompt Hunt

This photo felt surreal to me because this is not naturally occurring light. It reminds me of the burning bush from the bible and it just feels a little magical.

Lighting Observation

6:57 pm outside Bits walking towards the Stu

The sun shining on the library building and casting an orange color on the stone.

The orange glow on the building reminded me of the sky during a sunset. The sunlight turned the library into a mirror, reflecting the orange sky to the West of it. The usual tan stone was a calm, beautiful orange.
