Light Observation #4

1) DATE/TIME/LOCATION: 2/20/2020, 11:39pm, Axinn Library Ground Floor

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The florescent lights beam down onto the scanner/copier machines and water fountains in front of the desk I am sitting at. The lights are illuminating the corner of this particular section of the library. There are two panels of lights evenly spaced in the ceiling to perform this action.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The florescent lights in the ceiling make me feel like I’m at the dentist’s office. They’re muddy and gray and don’t add anything to this corner of the library. This is my view from the place I sit at work study and it’s extremely depressing.

Light Observation #3

1) DATE/TIME/LOCATION: 2/13/2020, 11:45pm, Walking past the desks on the ground floor of the library.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The florescent lights in the ceiling casted a shade of yellow against the wooden desks. The chairs, with a dark black plastic rim, contrasted the colors. The lights were dimly lit against the carpet underneath it as well.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The florescent lights were lit in an eerie, depressing setting against the wooden desks. The area looked bleak, the colors did not blend well, and looks difficult to concentrate underneath those lights. I felt this was a negative lighting moment for me because I wanted to change a lot of things about the way the lights casted for this study space. It looked very negative.
