Photo Observation 5

3. Single Light Source

4. I picked this photo because I really liked how it looked like the man was holding the light. It is like he is holding the sun in his hand which I took as he was holding life in his hands. It is a very natural with the warm light and how the man is not wearing a shirt. At the same time it is very unnatural because this can never happen and the light he appears to be holding is not the sun. It is nice to imagine that it is real though.

Light Observation #3

1) Feb. 12, 2012. 2:37 pm. Student Center

2) Sunlight shining thru the upper windows of the back area

3) It was a mostly cloudy day that Tuesday. I was sitting in the Student Center with a few friends eating lunch. Then the sun peeked out through the clouds and shone onto our faces. I immediately said “lighting moment” and everyone agreed. It was an indescribable sight for the sun to peer through the gray clouds, even for a moment, and brighten up my day.

Light Observation #1- Late morning sun

1) 1/29/12 – 10:30AM – My Dorm Room (Netherlands)

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: On a clear morning the sun was shining brightly on my closed window shade and light bled into the room and lit it up, no other light source was on.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: This past weekend was not the best I have ever had. I went to bed feeling pretty blue and helpless on saturday night and didn’t really have much motivation or energy as I closed my eyes. Luckily, I slept clear through the night and did not find myself tossing and turning very much. My sleep went uninterrupted all night and into the morning until around 10:30 when the sun really started to beat down hard on the single square window just to the left of my bed. Each window inside every room in the Netherlands Complex is furnished with a cheap and hardly operable window shade that takes a good five minutes to lower each night. It is the type of shade that has two long strips of fabric running from top to botom holding onto paper-thin strips of metal that when meshed together make a somewhat solid shade to block out the light from outside.

This clear morning allowed the sun to penetrate the atmosphere with ease and hit the shade with great intensity. This is when I was finally awoken from my dreams of the past and brought back into my reality. After I opened my eyes and woke my body up a little bit I threw my glasses on and looked to see what had brought me back to my reality. I scanned the window and and saw the sunlight beaming through the window, onto the tips of each white metal strip. The concentrated light on each panel was then forced through each crack between the panels and  lit my room in a muted glow. The light on the window shade was brilliant and vibrant as it peaked through; its color a very pure white. The light in my room however had a colder feeling, and was flat and muted as it bounced off the walls. There were no shadows, just a soft glow. I laid in bed for a while staring in silence thinking about my dreams and rationalizing all the old stuff that had been bothering me for the past few days. I was in the same mood that I had been the night before while I laid there constantly reflecting back on the past few years of my life. Then I looked at the window and realized the irony that in my room, the lighting was so flat and cold yet right there at my window the light was so vibrant, intense and warming yet I had my window closed, shutting that rejuvenating and happy light out of my room. Turns out that after I opened my shade, my mood was able to improve and I got some energy and motivation back once again.

2nd Light Observation Week 8

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 03/23/11 Walk way near Lowe

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION:  Sun reflecting in a puddle

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: As I walked around the usually disgusting puddle that is in the middle of the walk way near bits and bytes I noticed the suns beams reflecting of the surface water. It gave the usually muddy greenish water a special quality. It appeared to be glittering and glowing. Like an oasis in the middle of a desert.

Photo Observation-week 6

2) From my computer

3) Theme: Happy

4)When you look at this picture the main focus is the big hill in the middle. It seems as if the sun is a spotlight and shining only on that hill. everything around the hill in the desert looks dark and like its an abis. Nothing is more important than this hill. The sun illuminates and shines over this hill.

Beja Light Observation:

Date, Time, Location: Wednesday February 16th , 2011; 10:30PMish, at my high school

Objective Description: all but orange tinted light posts shining through window

Subjective Description: I was walking through my high school at nigh after volunteering to build some of there set. As I pass by some of my classrooms something weird happened. All the lights in the main halls, that are on a timer, turn off. It was creepy. Then as I look into an old photo class it appears if the sun was still setting. This was not indeed the case but instead was a orange tinted street lamp shining in through the windows. It started to give the room life again with a evening persona.

Beja Photo Observation

What, Where: Outside my bedroom, toward sunrise.

Theme: Sun

Description: in the morning the sun does a magical thing. The suns light is barely shining, this light is however casting up toward the blue sky. This in turn is casting a blue shadow at the top of the snow and houses. The sun is also casting brightly toward the sky. This layered sky goes from blue to white to orange. The background sky has a glowing quality and makes me feel cheerful. To complete the picture there is the silhouette of the trees and tops of the houses. This scale like effect feels like they are trying to break through past the sun.

Photo Observation 2/11

3) Sun

4) This is a picture of the sun. Additionally, it gives off a celestial feel because of the light reflecting off of the clouds below. The texture of the clouds is emphasized by the position of the single light source.

Photo Observation 2

2.) My own photo taken at the beach at Wildwood Campground, Long Island
3.) THEME: Sun
4.) DESC: This sunset over the beach was very romantic, the brilliant reds and oranges filled the sky like a burning passion, hot and fresh. The bright sun reflects across the ocean’s surface rippling slightly. The pinks and coral mix with the blue of the water reflecting beautifully, a perfect passion hot like a summer’s eve. Long and slow burning a lasting passion of two souls looking forever into one another’s eyes, two pieces of a puzzle fit together perfectly.

“The Sun” Photo Observation

2) Science Website

3) THEME: The Sun

4) DESCRIPTION: The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the sun is that to us it appears to be just a glowing ball. This picture is a close up showing the sun as star. The light within this picture is radiating from the sun itself. This gives it a very omniscient and powerful feeling. It is intense, strong, and pulls you in.
