Photo Observation, Vibrant, Colorful, Saturated

3) Vibrant Colorful Saturated

4) This is one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. It is simply filled with rich colors. The light is radiating through the tree bringing out so many reds, oranges, and yellows. The colors appear full of life somehow and are so vivid. In contrast to the tree, there are beautiful tones of green on the right side of the picture. Again, they seem full of life and are dripping with color. Even the pond has taken on a green reflection adding to the prevalent green. Wherever this place is, I want to be there. It seems so peaceful and serene, yet is full of breathtaking life and beauty. The photo creates a happy, warm feeling coupled with the calm of a garden or shrine.

Lighting Observation 2 (Week 2)

1) February 8th, 6pm, outside Vanderpoel

2) A lamp post illuminating the side of a tree

3) Another cold, windy night here at Hofstra. As I was walking to the Student Center I passed a barren tree, lit up on one side by a lamp post. The tree had no leaves and its branches were at sharp, jagged angles to one another. The light hit one half of the tree, creating a bright white reflection on one side, and a dark shadow on the other. The light lit the tree from above on a steep angle. The stark contrast between the two sides of the tree created a feeling of danger and suspense. The scene was like a black and white film with the dark sky behind the tree and with the only prevailing colors being white , black, and gray. The light cast sharp shadows on the ground adding to the almost melodramatic feeling of the moment.

Lighting Observation 1

1. January 31st. 2AM. Outside of Vander Poel Hall.

2. The light comes from a bright street lamp that is shining down at an angle. It is bright orange. Light spreads wide, in all directions.

3. The light is shining on to the the branches of the tree beneath it, causing the shadows to be projected against the snow. Due to the angle of the light, the shadows stretch towards me. From my room, on the 6th floor, I can look down and see the rain only when I look towards the light, otherwise, it is invisible. The whiteness of the snow and ice against the ground is shining the light of the lamp back towards me, creating an intense orange glow which combats the knowledge I have of how cold it actually is out there.
