Photo Observation- Wild Card

2) Attribute the Photo, tell us where it came from.

This is a photo my friend took of me in 2018.

3) THEME: Wild Card

4) DESCRIPTION:

A soft face surrounded by stark darkness. The shadows sweep and shroud as much as possible. And yet, a small light manages to harmonize with the shadows in order to create a fanstastical photo. Simplicity at its finest. Two girls, a camera, a light, and some darkness.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 4/20/21- 5:00 pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was in my dorm hallway when I noticed the light from the windows in the lounge was being casted through the doorway.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Nearing the end of the day, the light shines as brightly as it can before the sun continues its steady procession towards its vanishing. As it marches on, the windows capture that light and throw it all around the room, aiming for the nooks and crannies of the area. Light carries straight until it is cast through the door, creating a rectangular shape on the hallway floor.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 4/16/21- 2:00 pm

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was on the second floor of Lowe in the women’s bathroom when I noticed light coming in from the window.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The frosted window bathes the bathroom in a soft glow. The harsh light from the sun tries to penetrate the blurred window but only a kind shine makes it through. The warmth, the brightness, the color are all there but slightly muted by the window’s protective frost.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 4/7/21- 10:00 am

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: It was raining on and off and I was in Lowe 106 during my Speech class.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Rain drops sit on the window, sparkling as the sun pokes in and out of view. Dazzling reflections in the tiniest of droplets. Scattering bursts of light in so many directions. The glass of the window is home to these lost spots of rain.

Lighting Observation

DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Sunday April 25th 5:05 pm

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The police car lights outside my house

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was sitting on the couch when I heard sirens go by, through the window a mix of reds and blues flashed continuously. It hurt my eyes. I looked outside to see a cop sitting at the neighbor’s house. This went on for some time. Finally, the angry reds and blues slowly drove off with a new passenger in tow.

Photo Observation

This photo is mine from June 8th 2019 at 9:29 pm, it was taken at The Pagoda in Reading, PA

3) THEME: Dealers Choice/Wild Card

4) DESCRIPTION: Vibrant reds and calming blues clashed in a cloud of purple as the two survey the city below them. Nothing is quiet, music is blaring and cars are flying by. The world is endless and they are on top.

Photo Observation- Surreal

2) Attribute the Photo, tell us where it came from.

This is a photo I saw in a Tik Tok about places in your dreams.

3) THEME: Surreal

4) DESCRIPTION:

In my dream I often go no where, run around in circles with no place to go. The light is unnaturally even. No shadows or highlights. Just bright white light from every direction. The white light. A subject of human consideration. Running around, seeking the natural in a world created in my head.

Photo Observation

Attributes: This photo was taken from the Meow Wolf’s photo gallery on their website. This is one of their rooms at the Meow Wolf museum

Theme: Surreal

Description: You walk into the first room only seeing a basic house with regular dim lights, keeping your expectations at mellow. But then you walk through a fridge and suddenly walk into a room that makes you feel like you are in the movie avatar. Everything seems alive. You can see the regular structure of an outdoor treehouse, but then there are lit-up moss, plants, and obscure things that feel like they are breathing. The colors and emphasis of the lights create this movement, seeming like the things around you are real and alive. Everything lit and shown puts you in a euphoric experience.

Photo Observation 9

This photo was taken by me in Times Square at 12:37pm on May14th, 2020

Theme: Surreal

This one of the most surreal photos I’ve ever taken as I personally feel it’s an accurate representation of the pandemic shutdown. This picture was taken when me and my brothers went to the city last may to see everything and it was a desolate wasteland. We saw probably less than 20 people around Midtown that day, and we stopped at Times Square and saw that every store had been closed until further notice.
