Photo Observation

1) Photo taken by me, San Antonio, TX, 2/11/2020

2) Shadow

3) DESCRIPTION: This photo was a taken on a pleasant January night. My family and I had just finished a meal and we decided to take a walk of the surrounding downtown area. We ended up in front of San Fernando Cathedral. The four of us stood in the courtyard in awe of the 300 year old structure. There is no doubt that the architecture of the church is agreeable to the eye, but you must admit that the lighting is doing some pretty hefty lifting in this photo. The shadows created by the artful and sparsely placed lighting paint a ridiculously dramatic sight. The absence of light in certain areas of the facade create such deep shadows that make it seem as though the cathedral is being reclaimed by the dismal night sky.
