Photo Observation

Theme: Romance

Description: The soft pink pastels in the sky blend with the cool-toned blues of the ocean and muted-tone sand. The bright white displays a sharp contrast to the natural blending of all the other colors present. When I think of romance, I think of relaxation and gentle colors / atmosphere. Similarly, the sky above illuminates mellow pinks onto the ocean, establishing a tranquil, romantic atmosphere.

Light Observation

  1. Date / Time / Location: February 5th, 4:11 pm, my bedroom in Hempstead
  2. Objective Description: My bedroom in the attic is small and narrow, but there is one medium-sized window in the corner of the room facing the sunlight. As the sun is setting, it shines a warm glow onto the side of the room and onto one of the walls. It’s warm-toned color displays a stark contrast to the cool-toned gray paint on the walls.
  3. Subjective Description: Typically, my bedroom is my office where I get work done, my dining room where I eat my meals, and my studio where I dance. However, I had a moment to relax on my bed this past weekend and seeing this light made my space feel like a peaceful, comforting bedroom once again. The warmth of the setting sun provided not just brightness, but a sense of ease and contentment. Since it has been cold and foggy the past month, this glimmer of light gave me great joy.

Photo Observation

  1. Attributes: This photo was taken by Michael Fletcher in Laguna Beach, California during the first few days of winter.
  2. Theme: sunrise / sunset
  3. Summary: A faint beam of yellow peaks out in the distance from behind a cliff. The yellow is most vibrant behind the cliff and fades slightly as it extends further above the ocean. Multiple peachy and blue colors cloud the sky as the sun rises. I love this photo because you cannot see the sun, but you can recognize its affect on the color of the clouds surrounding it.
