Four Seasons 4/24

1.) The fall sunset gave me the idea of a very warm atmosphere in both tone and color palette while still being a more intimate feeling space. I added a wide spread of gobo to emulate the crisp texture of leaves as the setting usually possess lot of brightly colored trees in the fall season. Also being a sunset having the position high and in front as it slowly sets in front of the acting space and becomes more dimly as it transitions into the ight.

2.) For the sunrise in the cathedral, I took inspiration from light through stained glass and wanted to emulate the colors and break up of the shapes through gobos. Also, the angled lighting to establish the sense of movement from night to morning as well as contrast of warm color to the right was to illustrate the natural light and warmth of the space that visually illustrates the sun pushing the darker hues in the space.

3.) Summer in Africa. I took inspiration from the Lion King with the use of strong line patterns to give texture to the atmosphere. For a more playful tone I stuck with a bright, warm color palette and contrast light cooler undertones that captured the heat of the environment that still opened up the space for the more spacious and jungle-like appeal.

I always visuals the winter time as a vast plain of snow so I wanted to the space wider feeling of depth and ice-olation (get it like isolation tehe) as the actor is emphasized with a brighter lighter in the atmosphere.

Lighting Moment 4/8

9:34pm, sidewalk to c-square.

White Light from the lampost shines through tree branches

After a long tiresome day, the walk back to home is a journey within itself. And yet, it also shines as brightly as the day with white light streaming down onto the pavement, scrambles of harsh light shining between the trees leaves creating constellation-like spots of stars below my feet. The white light radiates out from behind the tree, the shadows and highlights of the branches develop halos circling the lamplight bright beam. Like a false moon to light the path among the stars.

Lighting Moment 4/5

12:35am, inside Adams Playhouse lobby.

Dark lobby with lamposts outside casting dim white light. Silhouettes of the door panels are cast on the walls.

A tranquil space of comfortable solitude in the late shadows of the night. Against the cold tiles, I sat and watched the long beams of dim light cascade along the floors and up the walls illuminating the glass pane structures of the window. Within the lobby’s silence and darkness, there seems like nothing but time in the slumbering theatre.

4/3 Photo Observation: Ad/Desire

Image from pinterest

The warm soft light attaches the audience’s eyes to the ad and highlighting a feeling of late-night comfort that is often associated with McDonald’s food. I found the lighting almost gobo effect with the arches in a appealing illusion at first as it draws attention to double check from first glance what the image is about. The bright yellow and orange contrast against the blue and red background futher popping the bright foreground of the cones

lighting observation 3/27

Picture I took outside of C-Square with the single artificial light being the sidewalk light cutting through the tree to the pavement.

I enjoyed the sharp shape of the beams from the high angle, almost like a sun in the darkness.

Photo Observation 3/13: Spring

From pinterest.

I like the dreamy tone set by the light glares in the image. It gives the whimsical feeling of spring from soft colors complimented by the brightness and warmth of the light in the image
