Lighting Observation

  1. Date / Time / Location: March 1st, 2:29 pm, LHComm dance studio
  2. Objective Description: Today, the dance studio was very bright but not to the point where it hurt my eyes. Overall, the room is full of dull colors: a greenish/grayish floor, old wooden panels, and eggshell brick walls. The top of the studio has giant mirrors which showed us the overcast sky outside.
  3. Subjective Description: Typically, one can see where the sun is in the sky either because it is visible or shines through the clouds. While the foggy weather today consisted of a light grey, I still could not see any sunlight or a singular bright point in the sky. In each window, the sky consisted of the same dismal color. This lack of brightness made me feel relaxed yet sluggish.

Lighting Observation #6

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: I had my lighting moment sitting in this class on Wednesday March 5th.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was sitting at my desk taking notes for this class when I noticed the sun peering through the window starting to reflect ofd of my silver pen, swirling around my paper and the room as I wrote.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The simple act of taking notes is suddenly interrupted as the sun beams towards the pen in your hand, turning it into a mini disco ball. Distracted by the glow and movement of the light, you are now in control of what seems to be a great power, imagining with every twist and turn of the pen that you yourself are creating the sun beams brightening up the entire classroom.

Lighting Observation #4

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 2-19-20, on the unispan coming back from class around 6:15.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I looked out the windows of the unispan, and the bottom of the sky was an array of vibrant sunset colors but the top was a very dark navy. This moment stood out to me because I never really noticed a sunset where the top of the sky wasn’t still light.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Seeing the vibrant colors of a sunset masked with the darkness of impending nightfall, emotes a strange juxtaposition between serenity and frigidness.

Lighting Observation #4

Date/time/location: 2/20/19, 10:06pm, path to Colonial Square by the field

Objective Description: Street lamps were on next to the field during the snow and sleet.

Subjective Description: The white lights made the water crystals glisten as they fell around me.
