Lighting Moment 4

Date: 2/27/23

Time: 7:03 P.M.

Location: outside of Memorial Hall

Objective: the sky was completely dark but all the street lamps were on and there was light coming from Bits & Bites

Subjective: it was snowing and it was the first snow fall I’d gotten to see yet this season and the lighting highlighted the snow perfectly and I grinned like an idiot the whole walk back to my dorm

Night Life

Theme: Night Life

Attribution: Megan Axton 10/24/21

Description: My friends and I had spent all day at a competition and even though we were exhausted, we still had a hell of a time on the way home. The icons on the car’s dash and bright lights of the bridge create a contrast stark with the dark interior of the van. (this was also the driver’s first time through the Boston area, so that was fun)

Lighting Moment

Date: 2/23/23

Time: around 6:30 P.M.

Location: Lowe Hall

Objective: all the lights are on in 216, but it’s dark outside

Subjective: There’s only a few other people in the room and a movie is playing on the projector. Despite the harshness of the fluorescents, the space feels welcoming and friendly.

Cold

Theme: Cold

Description: This is the sunrise from my driveway while I was waiting for the bus. The darkness, save for the sun, and the blue tone diffused on the snow makes the scene feel cold.

Lighting Moment

Date: 2/14/23

Time: 11:07 P.M.

Location: between Lowe Hall and Memorial Hall

Objective: A light under the covered walkway connecting Lowe and Memorial Halls. The outside of the arch and tunnel is not lit, only the inside walls.

Subjective: I was on my way back to my dorm after spending five hours working on a drafting in 216. There was no one else out around me and seeing just the single light surrounded by black felt lonely.

Romance Photo

Theme: Romance

Attribution: Megan Axton 11/17/23

Description: This was an assignment from Drama-005 where we were given a concept and had to make a lighting scene based off of it; my concept was love. Love and romance are usually associated with pink and red. It can also seem like the rest of the world falls away, hence only the subject being lit and not the rest of the stage.

Lighting Observation

Date: 2/4/23

Time: 7:28 pm

Location: Utrecht

Objective Description: a string of soft yellow fairy lights hanging on the wall above my bed with polaroid pictures hanging from them

Subjective Description: The way that the light string back-lit the pictures feels warm and inviting. The lights are from my aunt and the pictures are pictures I took of my friends, so combined they feel like home

Sunset

Theme: Sunrise/Sunset

Attribution: Megan Axton 7/6/19

Description: I took this picture standing on the dock at my best friend’s lake house. I liked all the different colors that were in the sky at that moment, as well as the orange that was reflected in the surface of the lake.
