Journal Entry #7

The theme is Single Source Artificial Light
This is a photo of a lamp illuminating a room with a plug-in socket, window covers, a shelf, a pillow, and a bed beside it. The lamp evokes a solid yellow light that allows one to see clearly when one gets ready for bed and to see where one is going. The lighting of the room is great as it simple yet effective.

The Theme is Spring
The trees cast their shadows because of the sun, and it covers the flowers with solar power. The spring makes it fresh and vibrant as it allows the earth to be given character and makes everything new and cool. Not everything lasts but it’s the time we have that makes the spring so valuable.

The Theme is Bizarre.
This photo got me in a sense of dread that put me on edge. I don’t know if there is a person who will attack me or that I am alone in my own fear of getting hurt. The trauma it breeds is horrifying as no one knows what comes next as the lighting makes all the more scarier knowing that nothing is scarier than fear.

The Theme is Night Life
This photo is a reminder that crazy nights happen for a reason or not, as not all things will go according to plan. I was drawn by its flashing lights all over the place that illuminated the setting. A big party that will be as epic as it is unpredictable.

The Theme is Cold
The snow in its darkest times represents the fear of the unknown; when the sun rises, it becomes more tolerable and heartwarming as the fear is gone. Snow represents the life of it all knowing that everything will be alright.
Photo Observation 3/28
Photo from Pinterest
Theme: Single Source Artificial Light
Description: This is a photo of a reading lamp shining on a bedside table, illuminating a book, a glass of water, and part of the pillow on the bed. The lamp emits a warm white light that appears yellow, making the scene look cozy and calming, perfect for winding down from the day.
Journal Entry #2

The Theme is Romance
While the bottom is plain and ordinary when one sleeps, there is a beautiful sky full of stars and endless possibilities for whether things could go. Though the people around them see the couple as ordinary, their love for each other feels like they have reached beyond their home and stretched out into the night sky.
Lighting Observation (Overdue from last week)
Location: Times Square 7AM – Friday
Objective: Right around sunrise, my friend and I got off the bus at 42d Street and 8th Avenue. The whole sky was pink and orange and left a pink tint on the cars and on people’s skin. There were also the huge lights from buildings and signs in Times Square.
Subjective: The lighting created a contrasting feeling. The pink and orange sky seemed created a warm, calm, and early morning feel. However, the big bright lights from the buildings made the light very abrupt and it did not feel like morning. Together, it felt like both types of lighting created dissonance.
Lighting Observation 3/15
Objective: I was on FaceTime with my friend, and noticed movement through the reflection of the microwave in front of me. I immediately jumped and screamed, assuming it was a person in my house. It was indeed my own shadow.
Subjective: The reflection of the movement on the microwave sent a shock of shivers down like in a horror movie. I screamed bloody murder, accepting that of my own fate. For that split second, my mind raced like a horse of all the possibilities that could happen.
