Photo Observation: Nightlife

2) This is a stock image of the Atlanta skyline taken from Piedmont Park. (https://stock.adobe.com/images/view-of-midtown-atlanta-from-the-skyline-picture-point-in-piedmont-park-at-dusk-usa/176972760)

3) THEME: NIGHTLIFE

4) DESCRIPTION: The water is still and dark, reflecting the bright and busy multicolored lights shining from the city skyline in the background. Though the park is quiet, illuminated only by warm street lamps, its emptiness is really just buzzing anticipation of the rush of nightlife to come, which is seen in the bright lights glowing from the skyline. The night sky is brightened with the skyline’s radiating shine; beauty is created by light pollution. That’s the wonder of nightlife, though: a good time can happen anywhere, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city or in a warm, dimly lit park.

Photo Observation

2) I took this photo on February 4, 2021 at 7:22 a.m. while driving to school in Atlanta, Georgia. I saw the sunrise in my rearview mirror and got out of my car to capture its beauty.

3) THEME: SUNRISE/SUNSET

4) DESCRIPTION: This photo depicts the epitome of a winter sunrise in Atlanta: a mix of bright, warm colors washing away the cool tones of night. The clouds glow coral orange from the sun shining as it rises from beneath the skyline of houses. I think this photo is especially interesting lighting-wise because of the street lamp’s radiating glow; this displays the true earliness of the morning, as the remnants of darkness have not completely faded away. The way the clouds fan out from the sun reminds me of physical sun rays, almost reaching out to spread its light. It feels hopeful; like taking the first sip of coffee, feeling the softness of the rug next to my bed on my feet, and picking up my bags as I get ready for the coming day.
