Date/Time/Location- 2/13/19, Roughly 9:00 P.M., Time Square
Objective Description- Due to a work related venture, I was led to drive into Manhattan on my way to a youth gathering. On the way, I decided to pass through Time Square. The bright and colorful lights on the buildings as well as the traffic lights and headlights on the cars appeared to brighten up the night.
Subjective Description- As the city streets stretched out before me, I couldn’t help but notice the contrast between the dark and dismal night sky above me and the bright and vibrant lights that populated everything right in front of me. Everything appeared to move so fast, from the brake lights and head lights on the cars that zoomed past me to the enormous signs on the buildings that appeared to be in constant motion as their colors changed and their lights flickered. The constant and even erratic movement of the lights awakened my senses and left me feeling energized and jovial. This moment showed me that light isn’t just good for illuminating a room, it can be great for visually crafting another world within our own and it allows one’s imagination to take a wild ride down the rabbit hole. This scene gave me the feeling that there was a world of night time wonder among the stars above me, and an ever-growing and ever-moving world of light surrounding me as I drove through the manhattan streets.
