2nd Lighting Observation – KS

02/10/2026 – 5:35pm – Hofstra University (Next to the Graduate Residence Hall)
The light I am talking about is coming from a sunset that I saw next to the Graduate Residence Hall on campus. It was made up of primarily orange color, and then faded upwards to a light pink, then a grey-ish purple color, then to just grey. The light reflected against the snow on the ground and shined through the tree line near the parking lot. The bright orange color was located at the bottom of the horizon and was almost in a perfect horizontal line.
This lighting moment made me stop in my tracks. I was about to cross the street to the student center, but I had to pause right on the curb in order to capture the scene. It literally felt like the sun itself was going to bed with the fading orange light and the purples and greys and pinks were the sun’s way of saying goodbye and the moon saying hello. It was a beautiful and heart stopping view.
