Lighting Observation #4

  2. Blue light from bathroom fan. Very small in the fan on the ceiling that clears the humidity, just bright enough to make things visible.
  3. In the middle of the night I woke up to get some water from the sink. I walked into the bathroom and realized something I had never noticed before. This tiny blue light coming from the fan was enough. Usually my habit is too instantly turn on the bright light and quickly flash my sleepy eyes with a shining beam that rips me out of my exhaustion. But this light was subtle, balanced, and sufficient. It had a stark, LED, bold effect yet it is such a small spot from the ceiling that it only spreads just far enough to light up the tiny, square bathroom. This light was interesting to me because to see something so small make such a specific, noticeable impact on a room is reassuring and soothing. Nothing overwhelming, it is just the light you need for just that time of night. I sat there for a moment in the peaceful light and appreciated what it means to be just the right amount. Sometimes subtlety is most crucial for the comfortability of a space.
