Lighting Observation #8

  1. April 1st – 11:53pm – Outside of admission’s office
  2. A bright white light shining up through the bottom of a clear plastic cup filled with iced tea
  3. Last night I was drinking out of a clear plastic cup after leaving.a restaurant. There was iced tea in the cup and it was a large cup. For a moment out of curiosity as I was walking home, I set the cup on top of a light that I was passing by to see how it would look in the liquid. This was a very specific and unique angle that I have not tackled in my observations yet. This light and liquid relationship really doesn’t happen unless you put something on top of a light or you are at an aquarium. To watch how the light dances through the various little particles in the liquid is so fascinating. The bright beams of light finding their way through the substance seem to slow time down. The peaceful, gentle floating of the beverage whether it be tea particles or bubbles was highlighted beautifully by the shining white light coming from beneath. This slow, serene, suspended visual was very beautiful in the late hours of night and brought on a gentler, more deliberate kind of lighting moment that I hadn’t yet observed this semester.
