Light Observation #6

1.) My room in my apartment, Uniondale NY. 3/6/18 @ 8pm.

2.) While filling my pod with insulin, the light from the lamp was directly behind the vile of insulin in my line of sight. Inside the vile a vertical lazer like light appeared. It was a deep amber and very warm.

3.) The lazer beam was like a powerful energy force trapped inside a container waiting to be released to wreak havoc. It was so bright it hurt to look at for long periods of time. It could be a heat source to warm up a cold room in the winter, or a electric bolt for a super weapon as well.

Lighting Observation #5

1. Date: March 1, 2018

Time: 6:30 pm

Location: Behind the Netherlands dorms

2. There is a yellowish orange light behind the freshman dorms in the Netherlands, that illuminates the otherwise stark backyard of the forms.

3. The lights shone behind the dorms make me feel as if I shouldn’t go back there at night. It causes a cautious yet gloomy feeling. There could have chosen brighter, white lights to allow for more visibility, but the lighting seems to be a warning against venturing around there.

Light Observation #5

1 Hofstra Unispan looking to the East. February 28th at around 3pm.

2. Walking across the Unispan I just randomly looked to the east and stopped dead in my tracks. One of the buildings made of glass to the south of the turnpike was half in the color of the glass and the other was in a radiant gold or amber, making it look as if the building was made of gold.

3. The image actually stopped me in my tracks by how shockingly nice it looked. The way the blue of the glass was suddenly contrasted by how it turned entirely golden amber. The hue made me feel as if suddenly warmed and made happy by this building that was hundreds of meters away. It’s interesting how this warm golden color made this warm feel when it was put next to the chill blue of the glass.

Light Observation 5

1.) Hempstead Turnpike, Long Island New York, March 1st, 7pm.

2.) I am in the passenger seat of the car with my friend driving down the street to Trader Joes. It is dark outside and the street lamps are on. While sitting in my seat I can notice the glare on the street lights on the window showing the horizontal marks on the car from when it was hand dried at the car wash last week. The lamps of the street lights are a warmer temp, appearing to be orange almost. On the,  bottom of the car window the lights from the passing car’s headlights make a glare similar to the street  lamps, but their temperature is cooler, appearing creamy yellow.

3.) These lights made me think about life passing by. The lights would come and go one by one, each one a representation of a life time on this planet. While bright and lively, it is only a brief moment. Then it dims off, only for the next light to appear. Over the course of the 20 minuet drive hundreds of lights will have passed by. Each one being erased after its brief moment of existence.

wow, Sounds like something Becket would say, kind of dark.

Lighting Observation #4

1. Date: February 22, 2018
Time: 12:00am
Location: My room
2. The back side of a MacBook is lit by the apple logo. In the dark, the apple casts a bright white light (that looks almost blue) onto the floor of my room.
3. When looking at the light cast by the apple, it looks almost theatrical. The light when isolated makes me feel alone. It looks like a spotlight that is shone on no one. The floor of my room became an empty stage.

Light Observation #4

1. 2/18/2018 1:00 AM, field out near Jones Beach

2. A radio tower in the middle of an open field surrounded by fog. The fog hazing around it so only the metal base of the tower being visible and the blinking light at the top.

3. The feeling of how the light was ominously blinking that dark and almost dangerous feeling of red a hundred feet over me made me feel nervous. Giving an odd emotion of fear as to the ominous blinking and red hue made it all the more odd. Even though my brain knew that the blinking was to warn airplanes I still had the emotion of fear from the odd blinking and dark red hue.

Light Observation #4

1.) My Home in Attlboro Massachusetts. 4:35pm Saturday

2.) My sisters daughter’s room is on the 2nd floor of our house. The room has pink walls, pink furniture, and pink curtains (I know, its a but much). However, what is cool is that when the sun starts going down the beams come through the window, trough the pink curtains, bounce off the pink walls, and shoot strait out of the room. The pink rays make the light in the hallway pink directly across from the door and the floor leading to it is also pink.

3.) When the door is closed, the pink faintly peaks out from the bottom of  the door. When I walked towards it I imaged that I was walking towards a portal to another world, uncertain of what was on the other side. Then as I open the door to see the other side, I am hit with a array of pink light that blinds me and knocked me over. Its like being punched in the face by a fairy.

Light Observation #4

1) 2/18/18- 8:20pm- New York City (near Penn Station)

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: While walking past some buildings, there was a fairly large building with all glass windows in the front. Inside I could see this weird lobby that was empty except for one man at the end of this wide hallway next to some sort of desk. The top and bottom of these walls were lined with bright blue lights that appeared to be similar to neon lights. The color of the blue was very pure as if it wasn’t not mixed with any other color.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The light appeared to be very ominous. It caused me to feel scared in some sort of way. The light was so bright and colorful compared the the street that it felt very haunting and demanding to me. The light pierced my eyes but I couldn’t stop looking at it becuase of it’s attention grabbing atmosphere. This moment was fairly creepy becuase not only was the building strange, but the lighting really added into the weirdness of the setting.

Light Observation #3

1. Date: February 15, 2018
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: In front of Weed Hall
2. The is a bright blue light on top of the emergency pillars, namely the one in front of Weed Hall, and at night it casts a light blue haze immediately around it.
3. This light made me feel strange for some reason. I believe the purpose of the light is to stand out as much as possible in the event of an emergency but, in light of recent events, it comes off as almost unnerving. I always expect an emergency light like that to be red or white, but adding the situation to that lighting choices causes two feelings that conflict each other.

Light Observation #3

1. 2/14/2018 8PM outside Netherlands Dorms

2. The flashing lights of a fireman’s car drove by, the blue and red flashing brightly as it approached the dorm. A small mix of yellow light was also in the warning lights with over the car. The front headlights a bright and harsh radiant white.

3. It was almost a shock when the vehicle turned the corner, the lights going off as a fire alarm sounded loudly. The lights hitting me just before it rounded on the building giving me a sudden flash of panic as those colors made my brain associate with danger. Then realizing it was a drill my panic calmed and I walked on with those illuminating flashes behind me.
