Nightlife Light Observation #2
1)Februrary 27th, Lounge @ about 11 pm
2) Theme: Nightlife. Blue and green light pour over people slightly, illuminating a dark room.
3) It was interesting to see the light cast a profile shadow on many people. I couldnt really see well, but it was well enough to identify who I was with. There was a blue light that lit half of the space along with drops of other colors which gave a cool, night life feeling. So those colors used together along with slight darkness proved to be a good indicator of nightlife.

Nightlife observation
1) New Jersey Turnpike : 3/1/11 @12
2)Night Life: Minimal light hit my eyes on the road producing a calming feel, contrary to typical city night life.
3) The head lights and back lights of cars were passing periodically. There were few lights, including mine . It was a different kind of feeling. It was peaceful and serene. The sky was light dark blue . The open road, scarce of cars, gave a feeling of freedom in the night, as I was totally exposed to the elements lurking around in the air. I felt calm and collected, because the minimal light in my face put my brain at ease. It was chilling in a way, because even though it was a calming feeling, there was also a feeling that someone unexpected could happen at any time as a result of it being so peaceful.

2) Theme: Nightlife
3) In this photo I get a feeling of instant action and excitement. The lights are all towards the bottom and there are many of them with catch your attention and pull you in. Even something so simple as a McDonalds sign is lit up in a way to seduce you with lights. This gives me the feeling of a place where the nights are always fun and a good time is guaranteed. As the buildings get higher the lights are less, and it gives me a feeling of something reachable, and something I can invest my attention to, so I dont feel removed from the setting.

Photo Observation
1) March 3rd-11:PM-My room
2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The light is cast by a bulb that has been made to resemble a stained glass window. As such, there are shades of red, orange, yellow, and some muted blue. The light is dim.
3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: This lighting is comforting in some moments are eerie in others. Comforting because the orange glow reminds me of how our house used to look (we weren’t allowed to leave lights on). It is also eerie, however, because the red hue is very unnatural and disconcerting.

3) THEME: Nightlife
4) DESCRIPTION: In this photo, the lighting is dark and there are a lot of shadows. To me, nightlife sounds both exciting and seedy. Somewhere in between what Las Vegas looks like on a pamphlet, and what Las Vegas feels like at midnight- the streets covered in images of half dressed women, trash scattered, and the heat bearing down. This images captures the duality of nightlife. Pn the one hand, the food and drinks are well lit; highlighting the pleasantries of a speakeasy. On the other hand, the characters in this speakeasy are obscured; hinting that they have something to hide (which they did).

2) Google search slot machines
3) Nightlife Photo
4) The word nightlife is strongly associated with the word fun in my mind. People laughing, drinking, joking. People think of the Las Vegas lights as a symbol for nightlife, but the people in reality are experience the flashing colors, lights, and sounds of the slot machines themselves. The inside of a casino has a certain energized feel to it. The bright neon, multicolored lights and bulbs surrounding you, the life of the machines evident in the room. People moving, smoking hazing the room add to the atmosphere. A casino exudes a rich, decadent, in someways enticingly romantic feeling. The lights are essential in creating the electric visual spectacle.
Lighting Observation 5 B
1.) 2/26/11- 4:15 pm ish- B. Q.E. around Kosiousko Bridge
2.) Hundreds of jet tails streaked across the sky near the setting sun
3.) Driving into Brooklyn on Saturday I kept getting extremely distracted by the gorgeous pink and blue sky streaked with white puffs everywhere, there were literally nearly a hundred! They criss- crossed they cut, they streamed all across the melon sky a beautiful, peaceful, happy sight these little puffs were! Like a watercolor the blues seeped into the pinks into oranges surrounding the setting sun contrasted against the friendly white cream puffs jetting across the sky, a lovely end to a lovely day.
