Advertisement Light Lab 4/11

For my lab recreation of this ad, I used the middle overhead light with a soft focus, one side light from stage left, and one front/side light from stage left. The sidelights were hung at the second level, and all lights were set to a 26-degree range. I am uncertain whether the advertisement uses two lights from the side or not, but I chose to use two because my subject was too dark compared to the ad otherwise.

Advertisement/Desire Picture

  1. Gummy Bear ad found through Google.
  2. Theme: Advertisement/Desire
  3. I chose this ad because I found that the way the light is hitting the gummy bear and causing it to have that type of shadow makes the ad more desirable. The shadows help to fill in the negative space so the bears are all fitting into a line. I also found that because of the light, the middle gummy bear has a slight sparkle to it, which helps to illicit desire and make you want to consume the product.

Photo Observation Coca Cola Ad

  1. DATE: 03/29/22
  2. TIME: 10:30 am
  3. LOCATION: Online Advertisement
  4. THEME: Coca Cola Ad.
  5. DESCRIPTION: The image was really hard to represent on the lab because of the way the light is displayed and where it is coming from, in this case from the very back. I took a really long time to see how I could make it work with the lights from the top and some of the sides so that the lights could brighten the stage from the back.

Fall Sunset in Vermont

Lighting Instruments:

SL boom 36 degree four/ ETC 436 coral amber

SR boom 36 degree four/ ETC 436 coral amber

Cyc/  R15 yellow

Cyc/ R27 Red

6” fresnel

Gobo Leaves full/ R94 kelly green/ 36 degree source four ETC 436

I created a sunset color with a mixture of burnt orange and red while adding an amber tone to the sides to resemble the finally setting. I added dark green leaves at the gobo to add the Vermont texture of nature.

Easter sunrise in a gothic cathedral

Lighting Instruments:

Cycs: R15, R27, R80

FOH 2/ 26 degree source four/ ETC 426/ Color R47

Side: SL 36 degree source four/ ETC 436/ Gobo Budding Branches

For this picture, purple and yellow are the two main colors that pop in my head as easter. I wanted a pastel yellow to show the innocence of the morning with the juxtaposition of the medium light purple that fits with the gothic cathedral texture gobo.

Noon on a hot summer day at the Caribbean

Lighting Instruments:

Cyc: R126,R27,R80,R15

6” Fresnel/ color R14- medium straw

36 degree source four ETC 436/ SL/ gobo  Wild palms

SR par 64mfl/ GE FFR

36 degree source four ETC 436/ SL/ gobo  foliage jungle

I used tints of green for the yellow base of lights. I kept thinking of the jungle or green leaves for the Caribbean with a light summer flow from the yellow sun. The model is leaping, because they are happy with leaping around in the sand. I also added a straw like color for the floor to give off the impression of a sand color.

Winter afternoon just before the snow

Lighting Instruments:

cyc R80

FOH 1 and 2 SR and SL 26 degree source four/ ETC 426 /Zephyr blue R84

6” Fresnel/ color G845 Cobalt

SR side light 36 degree source four / ETC 436/ Gobo snowflake six

I wanted to keep this simple with a blue monochrome idea. I imagine before a snowstorm or just for the snow falling, the atmosphere to be a dark blue. There are different angles of blue and values of blue in this lab, and it is supposed to arise the idea of a cold front.
