Photo Observation: Nightlife

2) This is a stock image of the Atlanta skyline taken from Piedmont Park. (https://stock.adobe.com/images/view-of-midtown-atlanta-from-the-skyline-picture-point-in-piedmont-park-at-dusk-usa/176972760)

3) THEME: NIGHTLIFE

4) DESCRIPTION: The water is still and dark, reflecting the bright and busy multicolored lights shining from the city skyline in the background. Though the park is quiet, illuminated only by warm street lamps, its emptiness is really just buzzing anticipation of the rush of nightlife to come, which is seen in the bright lights glowing from the skyline. The night sky is brightened with the skyline’s radiating shine; beauty is created by light pollution. That’s the wonder of nightlife, though: a good time can happen anywhere, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city or in a warm, dimly lit park.

Photo Observation

  1. ATTRIBUTES: Stock image I found on google: https://www.istockphoto.com/photo/modern-house-interior-evening-lighting-night-3d-rendering-gm966143218-263616103
  2. THEME: Cold
  3. DESCRIPTION: The lighting in this photo is very dim and all the light is a blue hue. It creates an almost empty feeling to the room despite the fact that the room is fully furnished. The cooler colors and lack of warmer colors (no pun intended) combined with the limited amount of light itself reminds me of a cold winter morning when the sun is just rising and the cold from the night before is still lingering.

Photo Observation: Romance

2) This is a photo taken in Murray River National Park, South Australia. This photo was taken by Wayne England. (https://www.flickr.com/photos/29005492@N07/8947904173)

3) THEME: ROMANCE

4) DESCRIPTION: I chose this photo because it displays beautifully the multi-faceted aspects of romance, and almost tells two love stories in one image. The bright, yet solitary moon suspended and glowing amidst the hazy and intimidating clouds displays one aspect of romance: the tunnel vision often experienced when one falls in love. The one and only focus of the sky is the moon; everything else is hazy and unclear. The warm and inviting campfire juxtaposes the spotlight-like moon, displaying the passion of romance. The soft orange glow emitted by the campfire illuminates the surroundings, asking for campfire songs to be sung and spreading its fervor beyond the actual fire. I love the mix of cool and warm tones, as romance never feels one exact way. It’s a mix of emotions, colors, and feelings, just like the image displays.

Photo Observation: Romance

  1. ATTRIBUTES: I found this photo on the internet on an article about Lantern Festivals by Sarah Buder on AFAR.com
  2. THEME: Romance
  3. DESCRIPTION: The photo is of a Lantern Festival where thousands of people gather to light and send these lanterns into the sky. The result is a blanket of small warm lights that fill the night sky and illuminate those on the ground. I always think of romance when seeing these lanterns because it creates a soft yet powerful light that engulfs everyone completely, despite the dark night sky.

Photo Observation – Romance

  1. ATTRIBUTES: This photo was taken from Twitter, by user @ArtisticVisuals.
  2. THEME: Romance
  3. DESCRIPTION: I chose this photo because the way the clouds align in the sky, and the sun shines through them makes the appearance of a heart between the trees. I love the way the landscape shapes the heart, with the trees on the side and the darker clouds atop. Additionally, I find this photo romantic because of the coloring of the sky. Heavily pink, with contrasting pops of blue pushing through the clouds, this photo provides a romantic atmosphere. The warm tones streaming through the clouds and trees onto the lot also adds to the romanticism of the photo.

Sunset Post

Date: November 19, 2020
Time: 4:40pm
Location: Area between constitution and graduate housing
Theme: Sunset
Description: The texture of the clouds reflects the color of the sun creating a multicolor effect with each ridge holding on to a different color. You can tell where the sun is because the peach color is on one side of the ridges and the blue-gray is on the other. There’s a gradient of color that changes from a pale yellow to a purple/peach as the light travels away from the sun. The dark tree cuts across the colorful sky creating a deep contrast and the vibrant colors of the sun are contrasted against the dark green of the grass below and reflected off the windows on the building.

2. Rosarito, Mexico

3. Sunrise/Sunset

4. The sun is setting over the ocean and creating  path of light leading directly to the shoreline. It’s light is projecting far into the sky in a circular pattern despite sinking further and further out of sight. There is a green orb in the corner and only a faint cloud illuminated by the remaining rays. The photo seems warm despite it having been very cold.

Sunset Post

  1. ATTRIBUTES: This is a sunset in Angkor Watt, Cambodia
  2. THEME: Sunrise/Sunset
  3. SUMMARY: The sun shines just over some trees and buildings. Its vibrant, warm, orange color makes the scene look almost like it’s glowing slightly, especially the sky. The reflection creates a mirrored image of the sky, but a little duller and a little less warm. The buildings and trees create a sharp contrast between the brightness and color of the sky and the water.

2. TIME: 5:03PM

3. LOCATION: Taken at Brix Apartment Complex from the window of my friend’s apartment

4. THEME: Sunrise/ Sunset

5. SUMMARY: The sun in this photo is just setting over the trees, illuminating the sky with a bright yellow, with just a little bit of orange along the tree line. The blinds in front of the sunset is the focus of the photo which allows the light from the sunset to come in from the background. The blinds are reflecting the light slightly which to me creates a comforting or calming emotion, like when a room is lit only by the light from a sunset and fills the room with a golden glow.

Photo Observation

NYC Winter 2019

THEME: Wild Card

DESCRIPTION: A cold winter’s night. The warm yellow headlights of the cars reflect off the city street, contrasting the cold blue string lights wrapping around the tree like melting snow creates an interesting atmosphere that I can’t quite put my finger on.
