The beer here is back lit so that it glows which makes the beer look more inviting while also emphasizing the sweating of the bottle which is definitely intended to create desire. I can’t quite tell if the light is straight down behind the bottle or if it is a steep angle from behind it but you can clearly see that the light is more behind than in front so for my diagram I went with a steep angle.

Corona’s whole thing is they try to associate the beer with being on the beach, and associate Corona as a summer “place”. The warm orange/yellow/amber light coming from above on a downward angle is used to represent a sunset on a beach. The colors of the light reflect the water on the deck, again, creating that happy summer feeling and allowing the viewer to associate the beer with summer. The color of the beer itself is highlighted from the light, making it look crisp and draw the viewer’s eyes to it. Of course, the lime slices are all perfectly in the bottle and shown off thanks to the light.

The warm soft light attaches the audience’s eyes to the ad and highlighting a feeling of late-night comfort that is often associated with McDonald’s food. I found the lighting almost gobo effect with the arches in a appealing illusion at first as it draws attention to double check from first glance what the image is about. Description: The lighting draws attention to the car, the focus of the ad, and makes the car look appearing to the eye. The natural lighting hits the car in a way that makes it look very shiny and new, and it emphasizes the little ridges and curves on the side. Compared to the natural blue and tan environment, the dark colored car pops against the background. It also draws in the audience with the man in the nice suit so that you subconsciously associate this car with wealth and luxury.

This advertisement represents McDonald’s, as the plug insert is portrayed as a french fry container for the company. However, what is the most interesting is the lighting representation for the french fries. The light source that is provided by the wall plug has the angle of the light shown shooting upwards, along with a gobo effect to show french fry shapes. This shows a creative way to show off the company’s food items without using the actual food sources.

This is an advertisement for Magnum Ice Cream bars, and it definitely makes me want to try one. Not only do we have the cross-section of the bar with gooey caramel, but the lighting that is used highlights the right side and puts the left in shadow. This enhances the 3-dimensionality of the ice cream, and the realism somehow makes it more desirable. I also think the warm brown background creates a comforting environment as well.

Description: This pictures shows a metal ballerina statue under a cool white spotlight. The artificial top light helps emphasize the angles and lines of the ballerina’s figure, and it creates a stark contrast between the light and the statue. Since there is only one light source, the photo is somewhat two-dimensional.
