3) Bizarre

4) This is a photo from a Mitski concert I went to this week. She is an artist who plays a lot with contrasting visuals and sounds in her performances. Here, thee white spots of light give the impression of stars which make sense with the sweet song she is singing, but the large red beams read as bizarre to me because they don’t exactly fit the feeling of night sky or ethereal love in the way the music and stars do. This adds a layer to her visuals that contextualizes the love she is referring to as also the fiery passionate kind, the way that we usually associate red with love. The amount of texture on stage along with the straight beams of red and white light is automatically bizarre and fills the stage with life.
