Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 3-22-20 around 3PM The backyard of my house

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Sun light peaking through the clouds

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: On Sunday I went outside to have a nice quarantine cry. I sat in the grass under a cloudy Texas sky and our Mexican Buckeye tree that is now taller than our house (we planted her when I was eight, her name is Georgia). Soon the clouds separated and rays of sunshine floated from above and warmed Georgia and I as we sat below. I was fascinated by the visibility of the sparkling rays of sunshine. They reminded me of the “rainbow road” level in Mario Cart.

Photo Observation

1) I snapped this photo some time last spring in front of the student center

2) THEME: Spring

3) DESCRIPTION: The blaring sun shining on the gorgeous little yellow flowers. They are so happy to see the sun, it looks almost as if they’re dancing! RIP spring 2020!

Light Observation #7

DATE/TIME/LOCATION: 3/27/2020, 4:45pm, Living room in Brooklyn

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sunlight from outside made its way into the living room on top of furniture being occupied by people and produce. Oranges sat on top of the table and with the shadows the overcast developed indoors.

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: With the slightest moments of inspiration, the fruit sitting on top of the table decided to join hands with the depressing mood the sun was barely setting. The dark, gloominess of the day made its way into the apartment and had an opinion about everything. The light was anything but uplifting.

Photo Observation #7

Photo: Found on Twitter, picture of a near empty street in the Bronx.

Theme: Spring

Description: I saw this post on Twitter and the caption had to do with one of the largest, busiest cities in the world being so quiet and isolated at the moment. We are at the forefront of spring and to be living during this moment in time is still unbelievable. This street depicts trees in the process of blossoming and the sky in the middle of deciding to rain or not. The lighting feels very spring-like, especially the way the cars are reflected and the colors feel cool yet bright.

Light Observation #6

DATE/TIME/LOCATION: 3/22/2020, 12:14pm, Bedroom in Brooklyn

OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Sunlight beamed in between the dark wooden blinds in front of the windows, casted light on the windowsill and all the objects on top of it. Sunlight has gone through a bag of tortilla chips, casted a shadow on a deodorant spray, and brightened the cover of an astrology book.

SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Sunlight beamed in between blinds that don’t fully cover the windows of this bedroom, which defeats the purpose of blinds. The light is pushing through the darkness of the blinds with no shame, arrogantly waking me up along with all of the objects on the windowsill. Some people would find this lighting to be soft and pretty, but I think it’s pretty annoying.

Photo Observation #6

Image result for billboards with good lighting

Photo: “30 More Creative Billboard Ads” https://www.boredpanda.com/creative-billboard-ads-2/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic

Theme: Advertisement/Desire

Description: This billboard stood out to me because the marketing team literally used their product, McDonald’s fries, to portray itself using light. I thought this was a great demonstration of using lights to grab people’s attention, which is what a billboard should be doing. There is definitely some desire for fries after seeing this ad.

Photo Observation

2) This Photo is from Ocean city NJ looking out my bedroom window towards the bridge in my town

3) THEME – Spring

4) DESCRIPTION: This Photo is was taken by myself while I was sitting doing work during the quarantine. Spring right now, to me, means almost nothing. I can’t really go out and do anything, and if I wanted to, it’s not like anything is open anyway. On top of that, I was not expecting to be home this spring, so being able to see this sight during the spring this year wasn’t something I excepted.

Lighting Observation

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: 3/19/20, Ocean City Nj, 7:30 am

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The sun lighting coming through my bedroom window

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: The illumination coming through my window was extremely bright. Since I pushed my bed up against the window, the morning sun reflects off the bay and straight through my window.
