- I find that the contrast between the light and dark, very realistic lighting, and the unrealistic stairs leading to the sky give an element of surreal. I’ve seen this lighting in the sky before after a day storm and I’ve never thought that there could be more behind the clouds, but this picture gives the illusion that there is more life behind the light, like there is something we’re missing and we can only take the stairs to find out. With the lighting and subject working together, there is an element of realism, but there’s also an element of fantasy and the way the lighting offers a spotlight in a way allows the two opposites to come together in a profound way.
