Lighting Observation

  1. My dorm, February 26th, 8:20am
  2. The overhead lights in the common room of my dorm
  3. I emerged from my bedroom at what felt like an ungodly hour. It really wasn’t, it was 8:20 in the morning, but on a Wednesday as a college student, waking up for classes is like crawling out of a hole. As I opened the door to enter the common space, a blinding light hit me by surprise and I physically recoil. Whoever had gone to bed last the night before had clearly forgotten to turn off the lights out here, creating a shocking transition from my bedroom into the shared space. I stalked over to the light switch and turned it off immediately. Going from the darkness of one room to the bright fluorescent lights of another was a shock to my system.
