The Four Seasons

1)Fall sunset in New England

I wanted to recreate the colors of autumn, while also managing to get the lighting of the sun correct and shown. Fall is supposed to give off a warm and comforting kind of vibe, which is what I wanted to convey here. I used mostly reds, and oranges with an undertone of a purple. All the lights are angled, at a soft focus because anything else seemed too harsh. The ‘sun’ is gel R013: Straw tint @ 50 percent. The red I used was gel Ro24: Scarlet @ 75 percent, I used another yellow gel R010: Medium yellow also @ 50 percent

2)Spring Sunrise in Gothic Cathedral

I wanted to mainly convey the prettiness of a gothic cathedral, how the light reflects off the stain glass windows, while also capturing the light of the sunrise. For this I mainly used pinks and purples, using the sun in the cyc lights instead of hanging them overhead as I did previously. The purples that I used were R052: Light Lavender @ full, R048: Rose Purple @ 50 percent, I even used a light yellow color which was used in the cyc lights, Roo7: Pale Yellow @ 75 percent. I used a window gobo to emulate how I wanted to create the effect of the cathedral window, R398: Neutral grey @ full.

3)Noon on a hot summer day in the Caribbean

For this I wanted to convey the blue sky that is in the Caribbean beaches on a hot, sunny summer day. That is why I used a lot of blues, overlapping each other to try and create a really rich blue. I used R363: Aquamarine @ full, R080: Primary Blue @ 85 percent, R072: Azure Blue @ 75 percent, and R095: Medium Green @ 50 percent. The ‘sun” is represented with the gel R310: Daffodil @ 80 percent. The top cyc lights are the only cyc lights are the only ones that are turned on, I used the gel R398: Neutral Grey to represent the clouds in the sky on a clear sunny day at the beach

4)Winter afternoon in Canada

For this I went much more simple. I wanted to get across the winter snow while also showing the sun that you usually see reflecting off of the snow. For this I turned on both the top and bottom cyc lights, using R013: Straw Tint @ 90 percent, to represent coming in from both sides. The cyc lights are R066: Cool Blue @ 75 percent to represent the snow that we normally associate with winter.
