1) Wednesday April 3, at 8:15 PM in the NAB.
2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was backstage in the black box waiting for my cue during the Don Juan tech run. It was the scene just before what’s known as “the rape scene.” I was sitting on a bench, alone, under one blue light.
3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: This was not only a great lighting moment to experience, but it was also just a really beautiful moment for me to have backstage, especially in preparation for my upcoming scene. As I was focusing on getting the tears flowing, I noticed the single blue light that was the only source lighting me. Because I was in costume, I identified with a subject of Picasso’s blue period paintings, which was so exciting. The light covering of blue washed over me like the ocean; I was floating in the water, unable to grasp anything tangible. Normally I don’t enjoy feeling that unsteady, but this was soothing. The light was like a calm lotion that could give me the right tranquil experience to be focused and really let everything go in the next scene.
