Single Light Source

Attribute: I took this picture September 2018.

Theme: This fits the single light source theme because even though there are lights on in the room in the background, none are on her. The only light source on her is the sun coming through the window.

Description: Cayley is addressing her kingdom while posing dignified on the mountain of my stomach, while the sun focuses and highlights her majesty.

Photo Observation #5

Photo taken by me at my high school in June of 2018

Theme: Single Light Source

Description: The lighting in this picture was set up to be neutral constant for the one-act play festival. This fits the theme since there is only one source of light coming from the right side of the picture.

Photo Observation #4

1: Source: Canon- Photo taking by PinPoint Elite

2: The lighting creates the feeling of night life

3: I was in a photoshoot for the photography company that I am apart of. We wanted to create a cinematography/ photoshoot using LED’s like Brandon Warfol. He is an amazing photographer who uses LED’s, and edits the pictures to make the colors more vibrant. We couldn’t fine a model so I was the candidate.

Light Observation #4

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Thursday 21st 2019, 10:00 am

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: I was walking to my car and the sun was glaring off of the snow into my eyes. I could barley see and had to squint to try and block out the sun.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Even though there was snow I felt quite warm. It was almost like a placebo effect. Due to the fact that the sun was out and shining, it felt like spring and I got a sense of relief.

Lighting Observation #4 The M Train

1) DATE-TIME-LOCATION: Saturday February 16th, 6:30 zpm, M Train crossing the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan.

2) OBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION; the fluorescent off-white light over head, the white or amber lights of passing headlights illuminated the streets on either side. In the distance, the buzzing lights of Manhattan, and their reflection on the river.

3) SUBJECTIVE DESCRIPTION: Isolated, from the outside world. Despite the movement of and around us, the air inside the subway car was still. Most people where engrossed with the their phones or staring blankly out the window. Momentary peace, in s city of chaos.

Light Observation 4

Thursday, 8:52pm in my dorm
The lights were off in my room, and it was snowing outside, with the lampposts illuminating it.
The window looked as though it was glowing, with the snow swirling outside of it. It reminded me of those old alien movies, where you see the bright white light coming in through the window in the dark, right as the aliens either land nearby, or abduct something or someone.

Photo Observation 4

Taken by me, on a riverboat around Manhattan in June 2016
THEME: Nightlife
NYC is the city that never sleeps, and that expression is most true when seeing how brightly lit it is. Each building has its own varying color and shape, yet they all help to show how alive and active the city is at night.

Lighting observation #4

Date: February 20th 2019 at 6:10

  1. Looking down from the 39th floor I have a view of Times Square from above. All of the lights art lit but the surrounding is darker because it requires so much electricity.
  2. The surrounding of darkness make you feel enclosed because the light is so focused inward. Although, The focas is drawn to the middle where your eye won’t wonder, so you stay engaged with the wonder that is Times Square.

Photo Observation 4

I took this photo on July 20th 2016 after returning to New York from a week long stay in New Orleans.

Theme-Night Life

Description- This photo was taken at the final stretch of what was a very exciting and very exhausting trip back from New Orleans. I believe the true sense of “Night Life” comes from how there is a certain aspect to this photo that is really energizing. The night sky when viewed from an airplane can look soothing and sleep inducing with the way the stars provide faint flickers of light in the darkness. One can certainly feel this tiring feeling when looking up at the vacant sky but then the eyes are immediately drawn to the various scattered, colorful, and vibrant lights that make up the New York City skyline. Time Square is clearly visible from up above and just this section alone can remind someone that while they sleep soundly (be it in their own bed or on a plane) the night tends to take on a life of its own. This is ever so evident here as the lights of the skyline (Time Square in particular) tend to be in constant movement creating ripples of color and sparks of life amidst the darkened sky. It is possible to feel the energy of the city as the night life is in full effect and soon the feelings of tiredness and longing for slumber are soon replaced with feelings of child-like wonder and elation. It is when we all go to sleep that the night really begins to come to life ( It is during the darkest of nights that some of the brightest lights are really allowed to shine!).

Location: Orlando, Florida at 9:35pm

Theme: nightlife

I chose this photo because I loved the layers of lighting within the building. Due to the fact, that the structure is similar to that of a colosseum, you’re drawn to the arches. Since they’re lit, you then focus on particular colors like the green in the corner. Then you notice the contracts of the sign which is in red, thus giving it a nightlife feel.
