1st Light Observation

  1. Date: 1/30/2019, Time: 8 AM, Location: My dining room
  2. Objective Description: I was eating my breakfast before the lighting class. The dining table is against the wall and there is a window behind me. I accidentally saw that the shadow of my upper body was on the wall. The shape of my head and neck was clearly seen.
  3. Subjective Description: Before the breakfast I just took a shower so my hair was still wet and messy. Every single detail of my hair was projected on the wall. When I was chewing food or drinking milk, my Adam’s apple was slightly moving up and down. With the morning sunshine behind me and these vigorous elements of my body, the energy of youth and health was about to burst out just like the sunrise.

Lighting Observation #1

1: January 31, 2019 at around 7 pm in my suit living room

2: Objective description: In our living room, we have a bunch of LED lights and a dj booth set up in there. The board was all lit up with it flashing different colors along with the LEDs changing colors according to the beat of the music. All of the main lights were turned off except for the LEDs to give the room more of a club-type feel.

3: Subjective description: As I was looking around at the lights and listening to the music, it made me remember the time I took a study abroad trip to Spain and on the last night before coming back, we went to a huge 7 floor club in Madrid. It was the same atmosphere I was feeling while sitting in my living room, and just remembering the amazing and fun time I had that crazy night in Madrid, Spain.

Photo Observation #1

Photo taken by me near the Statue of Liberty on my phone

Theme: Sunrise/Sunset

Description: This picture has an ominous feel to since the light is coming from behind the subject. Normally when lighting something like this you create a shadow but of a standing object. The source of light in this image is the sun. By having the light come from behind, the silhouette of the object shows a lot more detail than if the light was in front of it. This fits the theme since in the background you can clearly see the sun starting to set.

Sunset

I can not figure out how to rotate it because it’s right side up when I downloaded it.

Attribute: I took this picture leaving the Walmart parking lot.

Theme: Sunset

Description: This is a picture of the sun setting as I was leaving Walmart. It fits the theme because it is a sunset, obviously. It was snowing and windy so it was freezing for me to take this picture quickly. I especially like how the headlights’ lights are reflected the wet/icy ground in the foreground of the photograph.

Lighting Observation #1

  1. January 30th, 2019 at around 7 pm in my dorm room
  2. Objective Description: On top of my roommate’s desk, she has an essential oil diffuser that also has an led light inside of it. The light can change to different colors, but at the time it was on a mix between amber and orange. The light also flickers to look like a candle. The rest of the room was dark so the essential oil diffuser was the most prominent.
  3. Subjective Description: As a result of the light flickering like a candle, it had reminded me of the fires that my family and I make when it is a cold evening similar to the weather during that time. I felt calm and at home. The light had made me feel calm with all the stress that is occurring with the first week of classes.

Lighting Observation #10 – Bedside Lamp

  1. Date: 4/20/18, Time: about midnight, Location: my bedroom
  2. I am doing some work on my laptop and decide to put on my bedside lamp. I rarely use it, but it emits a warm light.
  3. My bedside, usually enveloped in cold and unnatural light from the TV, is illuminated by the lamp sitting on the nightstand. Most of the time, it sits as a prop for decoration, but its use of light is reliable whenever necessary.

Photo Observation #10 – Enchanted

  1. Found on http://freeandforme.org/2016/11/29/experience-enchanted-forest-of-light-at-descanso-gardens/
  2. Theme: Enchanted
  3.  The person seems to be staring directly into a hazy blue light. The light source is also giving off a dream-like haze or mist, symbolizing something otherworldly. The light is derived from the forest, usually seen as “enchanted” due to it being a common theme in parties or dances. The light seems to have layers of blue, making it appear like a portal to a magical place.

2) Picture of old books, on pinterest

3)Enchanted

4) Already the way that the books are set allows for a good use of shadow and stacking of light. Also the natural deteriorated color of the books plus the additional coloring of the amber light sources makes the books have an almost magical or enchanting feel to them, as well as an ancient or old feeling.

Photo Observation

2) Miguel Santana da Silva

3) THEME: Enchanted

4) DESCRIPTION: The way in which one can see the light rays as they brightly shine in causes a magical and enchanted feeling. The light looks like it is some other magical power coming from something unknown. This enchanting feeling comes from how the light from the sun brightly shines onto the model.

ENCHANTED

This image is of a landscape in Australia. It is in the late afternoon. Whats makes this lighting enchanted is the brightness and viberance. The light comming from the sky is making the colors of the pathway appear more crisp and light. This landscape could be a late afternoon in some gnomes magic forest where all the gnomes travel along the path to some secret place.
