Lighting Observation #1

6:02 pm 1/28/19 My brothers room

  1. My brother has the Welsh flag hung in his bedroom. To the left of the flag there is a lamp with multicolored bulbs inside. The pink light was light under the left corner of the flag.
  2. The flag of my mothers home country hung and shined with pride.

Photo Observation 1

1: Source: Taken by myself on I-phone 7 plus

2:Sunset at Fire Island Lighthouse on Long Island

3: The Sunset in this photograph is just mesmerizing and it holds so many memories for me. The way the sun highlights hits the dunes right by the beach and that reflection, of the light, on the boardwalk just completes the moment. The crisp clouds give the impression that it is fall adding a sense of cool tones and emotions to the picture along with the warmth of the suns tones. The way the sun is setting in this picture gives the impression of an amazing day full of accomplishments.

Photo Observation #1

Sunset in Queens Village, New York 2015
taken on my Android phone

Sunrise/Sunset

I took this photo while sitting out on my balcony. I lived on the top floor of my apartment so I always had the best view of the sunset. I really like how the photo is emphasizing the sunset while everything in the background is just a shadow. This gives the photo a very mysterious yet serene feeling.

Photo Observation

1: Source: Taken by myself on a Canon 70D camera.

2:Sunrise at Falls Lake in my home town of Raleigh, NC.

3: The sun rise reflecting off the water was the main reason I wanted this photo. I thought it was too good to pass up. The way the sun makes the sky glow is just mesmerizing and to see this view from the lake in the early morning is something to witness when visiting North Carolina. The way the sun is rising makes the view and mood really calm and relaxing given the situation I was in.

Photo Observation #1 Sunrise

Sunrise, Harrisonburg
Sunrise in Harrisonburg, VA on my Iphone

Sunrise/Sunset

Sun rising over an barren industrial area of town. The light creates an illusions of glowing clouds and cascades over the edges of the building. the left side of the photo is still mostly dark, the angle of the sunlight not yet reaching it. The morning sunlight casts rose and amber hues across the sky

Lighting Observation #1 – White Out

1) 4:15pm, 1/30/2019, Looking out of an east window in Vander Poel Hall

2) The snow was falling so heavily that it created a whiteout, during this moment the streetlights in the parking lot where activated and the amber glow of the lights was the only thing that could be seen through the snow.

3) The Amber light from the streetlight pierced through the blizzard, like a ghost returning through the veil.

Photo Observation 1

2: Source-My own camera, taken by friend
3:Sunset on beach
4: The light from the sunset creates a harsh contrast between the front of the body and back. It also causes parts of the face to have slivers of sunlight as well as highlighting eccentricities in the hair. The photo itself gives off a mix of warmth and sadness.

1st Photo Observation

I took the photo this winter in Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain.

Theme: Sunset

Description: Obviously there is no visible sun or sunset in this photo but nothing could’ve been seen here without the sunset. Inside the church, there is no artificial light source at all. Instead, there are a dozen walls of colored glass that allow the sunset to come through the window so that the whole building can be brightened. Those columns stand still among the colorful natural light as if forests float amid the mist. And the red and yellow window glass kind of heats up the sunset, which adds more warmness and peacefulness at the end of the day.

Lighting Observation 1

1: 1/31/19; 12:30 AM; My Bedroom

2: Objective: The multicolored light bulb in my was on the color orange while the rest of my room was dark except for a candle by my bed. They light from each other bled together.

3: Subjective: My room is generally very dimly lit and I had just woken up from a short sleep. Seeing this gave me a comforting feeling since it made the flame of the candle look much more apparent. The warm colors of the two light sources made the air feel a bit warmer, which was a relief due to the cold weather.
