Lighting Observation

  1. Walking home past Gallon Wing 11:00 p.m.
  2. A flickering light in front of Gallon Wing
  3. I was walking home and it was pitch black, except for the lamp lights, and then i turned in front of the Gallon Wing academic hall and there was this very spooky flickering light on a lamp that created these really creepy shadows and i felt like i was in a horror movie.

1 This is a photo of my old summer camp that I found at Campmarist.org

2 Summer

3 I chose this photo because one when I think of Summer my first thought is of camp. I think the colors of the boats and the wash of sun light show a lot of warmth. I reminds me of refreshing days on the lake.

Light Observation

  1. 4/11/17, 9:30 pm, outside of CV Star.
  2. I was outside and it was dark but I noticed there was a big bright white light, it was the moon.
  3. I just got out of class and I was walking when I noticed a shinning light reflecting off of my phone screen and when I looked back there was the moon. It may sound simple and cliche but it was beautiful. Usually I think of the sun shinning bright in the sky especially when it’s nice weather. The moon caught my eye mostly because it was a full moon. Sometimes when there is a full moon it’s yellow and has more of a darker tone. It illuminated my surroundings. I love the color white and in my eyes the moon was shinning big, bright, and white.

Photo Observation

  1. I choose this picture from my phone and it was taken when me and my little sister were at the beach in Rye Playland around August.
  2. Summer
  3. When I think of summer I absolutely think of the beach, mostly because it is my favorite place. Besides the fact I love the beach I choose this picture for other reasons. You can see where the sun is coming from on the right side of the picture because how bright my face is and how much darker my sister’s body is because she is turned away from the light. I can tell the time this photo was taken because of the direction of the sun. When the sun was on the left it was morning and as the day got later it shifted to the right. Considering the sun is on the right side it was most likely late afternoon around 3 or 4. I also love on the the sun makes a reflection os me and my sister in the wet sand. This photo also reminds me of when I would sit by the shore line and admire the rocks and when the sun shine hit the rocks it would shine brightly like crystals. The shinning rocks would be my favorite lighting moment in the summer.

Lighting Observation

Thursday 6pm, my dorm.

My dorm room on an overcast late afternoon

The sky is gray but the sun is desperately trying to shine through. With my blinds up my small room is still well lit. Every object has a grayish hue to it. Everything is calm.

Lighting Observation 10

  1. 4/9/2017, 4:30 PM, NAB Black Box
  2. The lighting designer for the dance concert was trying to program cues but forgot to add a cue for the scroller to change and it made every color appear on the stage in quick succession.
  3. As the LD was going through her cues before we ran Anita’s piece, she hit “Go” and suddenly the scrollers went through every single color available. It was a very funny moment as it took everyone by surprise and left the designer a bit flustered. Everyone was able to laugh about it and it was a nice break from the stress of the day.

Photo Observation 10

  1. This picture was taken by me on the Ferris Wheel at the Santa Monica Pier on August 5th.
  2. Theme: Summer
  3. This picture says summer because of the bright sun, bright colors, and the fact that it was taken on a beach. One of my favorite places to go during the summer is the Santa Monica Pier because it isn’t expensive and there is so much to do. The bright colors of Amber’s romper, the Ferris Wheel, and the sky are the epitome of summer and radiate warmth and fun.

Photo Observation

  1. Photo found online at JuneauEmpire.com
  2. Theme: Summer!!
  3. When I found out the theme was summer for this week’s photo observation, I immediately thought of the cliche beach view – sublime, serene, and the carrot at the end of the stick of a long semester.  Just looking at this picture I can feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, smell the beautiful Yankee Candle smell of sand and salt, and hear the calming whoosh of the waves.  However, if the sun is not hanging in just the right way in the sky, it could ruin an well-intentioned beach day.  The lighting in this picture encapsulates a truly ideal summer day – the sun highlights and accentuates the bright, pure colors of the water, sand, and umbrella.

Lighting Observation

  1. 4/9/17, 7:00 pm, Estabrook Hall
  2. Objective: The blinds on the left window of my room was completely shut, but the blinds on the right window were slightly opened. This allowed small streaks of light to come into the room. The room was fairly dark since the sun was setting.
  3.  Subjective: After a long day of non stop homework, I had the chance to lay down for a few minutes before doing some spring cleaning. Turning on the overhead lights would ruin the peaceful moment, so I opted for the natural light the sun provided. There was not much sunlight left since the sun was setting. There was however small streaks of light peaking through the partially cracked blinds. My attention immediately went to the newly formed lines on my wall created by the light. The stress I had previously felt slowly melted away and a desperately needed wave of relaxation emerged.
