The fire lets off a warm glow that fights against the stark cool light coming from the unfortunate flood lights on our new home. It is cold and yet warm in both temperature and color. This picture captures what was my nightlife for many years. The warmth of family in the midst of a cold dark night, all our pets and our favorite people in one place which is rare now.

The colors of the Christmas decoration juxtapose the jet black sky, clouded from the snowy weather of the day. The government building is lighted for the season, with a light show every half hour accompanied with music and hoards of people watching. The lights demonstrate the energy of Christmas, while also illuminating the crowds of people who arrived to the Christmas market regardless of the cold weather, icy conditions, and snow. The sharp blue light illuminated by the Christmas tree especially stands out to me, as it contrasts so strongly against everything else in the picture.

4) DESCRIPTION: The room is loud and filled with strangers. Never being in Miami before I’ve never experienced a place quite like this. The room is so dark yet so bright, as it is illuminated with so many sharp, artificial lights. There’s lights coming from everywhere; the walls, LED strips, the ceiling, behind the DJ booths. The ceiling fixtures move, blinding me every once and a while with green or pink light. I know it’s going to be a good night.

Nightlife

At the Lunar Vacation vacation, the lighting designer uses multiple colors to add contrast and separation on stage. The use of deep reds beautifully contrast the rich blue back/background lighting. The purple light beams that separate and bath the stage, excellently helps set the stage(pun included) for a relaxing and enjoyable night of music and good vibes. The purple lighting aided with easing the eyes and relaxing the audience. Although hard to see in the image, the warm side light assists with separating the lead singer  from the rest of the band who are all slightly silhouetted in blue lighting. This separation helps easily guide the eye to the singer, which always the world around her dissolve away, leaving nothing left but the music.

2. Nightlife

3. This photo has warm tones throughout it, from the foreground with the orange and pink pants to the background where faint pink LED lights reflect off the floor. Of course, the content shows a silly, fun nightlife, but the flash of light from the left brightens a warm, vibrant glimpse of life while allowing the edges to darken and fade to low party lights. Surrounded by a muted wash of pink, the bright subject and calmer background of the image create a fun nightlife atmosphere.

  1. Virginia Beach, ~8pm, August 2016, Taken by a family friend
  2. Theme: Nightlife
  3. To me, this photo describes the family fun kind of nightlife that feels nostalgic. This photo was taken at Virginia Beach after a long day of dance nationals so it feels like the conclusion to the night. The flash from the camera illuminates the area and would be blinding if you looked back. The only other light visible comes from the moon which was particularly bright that night. All the light is very white and there isn’t much color variation.

Photo Observation #3

1)August 27th, 2022 photo taken by me at an August Burns Red concert

2)Theme: Nightlife

3)The lighting is very bright in this photo, it’s a metal concert so the lighting overall is very harsh. Lots of reds, yellows, oranges used in time with the beat of the music. The only time there were any kinds of blue, purple, or green lights used were during any kind of harsh change in music like a beat drop or a change in song type/tempo, other than that they stayed within the same color palette throughout most of the duration of the show. Lots of haze was used, which in turn made the lights and light beams very prominent and gave them more definition. This combined with a lot of strobes and moving light effects kept the crowd lively and upbeat creating an ample and exciting nightlife atmosphere, if not for this it would have made for a very boring experience.

House in Sweden: August 22nd, 2o19

Nightlife

It’s a calmer type of nightlife with the calm wind and the sun setting. The sky was washed in a nice layer of orange, yellow, and peach before quickly fading to the washed-out blue, the navy, and the very few stars you could see in the summer. I believe this is a very nice representation of nightlife as someone who doesn’t like going out at night.

March 24th, 2023, taken by me at a Lunar Vacation concert at Big Night Live in Boston

Theme: Night Life

A blue wash covers the crowd which takes up most of the photo. Fabric that covers the back of the stage is also washed in blue light. A warm yellow spot is on the lead singer, while the rest of the band in the background are in a cooler light, there’s a contrast between the lighting on stage and the lights over the crowd. It’s indoors, but the blue light creates a sense of the night time, the crowd and lack of space also adds a certain intimacy to the picture.

The shadows and the red-orange fluorescent overhead light make this picture seem so smoky and warm. It feels like a suffocating summer night, specifically in the south. It’s hazy, it’s hot, it’s sweaty. You want to dance, but you will immediately get tired and winded, and sweaty, but you’ll be happy. It’s nostalgic for a place and a time that I will never get to experience, and will probably be difficult to recreate. I am not someone who enjoys nights out often, but when I do, I would prefer if it looked something like this.
